100K Mile Maintenance

My 2010 SS T/C just rolled over 100,000 miles and still runs amazing with no issues at all. I got the car a few months ago with ~90,000 miles on it. I was wondering what things I should be looking to replace at this point in the cars life to keep it running at its best.

Any mods done to the car?? Get those valves cleaned, new plugs, cabin filter, air filter, change oil, CABs, and that should be the major stuff.

I think the service manual calls for a trans fluid change at 100k

The owner's manual will have a list of maintenance items. I'm not sure it it specifies trans oil; but if it doesn't do it anyways, and then do it every 50k miles after that.

And use the GM fluid, not gear oil like some people say.

After seeing the most common failures

1. Trans fluid - LNF Fluid only
2. Front O2 Sensor - GM sensor only
3. VVT Selenoids - GM sensors only
4. Spark plugs should be done if haven't in awhile. - ACDelco plugs only
5. Clean your intake valves if you haven't

^x2 our oil is a gl-4, gl-5 fluids are not compatible. Part number is 88862472 and you need two quarts.
Don't forget coolant and brake fluid need to be flushed. Drive belt as well just to be safe.

I've got a K&N typhoon, 3" ZZP catless DP, 3" ZZP exhaust, and hopefully a tune by this weekend. The car came with the K&N and I cleaned it as soon as I got the chance, but its looking like its time again. Oil was changed less than a month ago, but I'll be sure to change the trans fluid ASAP. Do y'all have any recommendations on where to get the best CABs?

Ottp is less expensive, but if you are going to keep the car for a long time go with Powell. Lifetime warranty and he makes good stuff.

There is one in the How To section of this forum. With lots of good discussion in the thread.

I know but I've got a link for adapters for the no mess job. That how to involves way too much prep.

It's not rocket science. Universal rifle cleaning kit, picks (angled, straight, etc.), a shop vacuum, a can of air and some solvent. I've done it a few times now and the next time I do it, I'll probably use a media blaster for a change.

I'm talking about media blasting. You can buy an adapter that goes in the valve ports and the vacuum and air hose can plug into it. Using picks and solvents takes a lot more time but hey, whatever works.

Definitely! It can't hurt to have it.

Something to be prepared for between now and about 150k depending on how well its been maintained. Keep a check on if the chain makes any noises on startup and when hot. When doing them go ahead and do all the guides, actuators, both tensioners, and the balance chain.

Not trying to thread jack but my car started popping out of 5th after a pretty quick shift.

It had been occasionally grinding while shifting before but not often.

Could the problem be old or low fluid?

That's what I thought. I've got non lsd lsj trans to swap. Brother said he'd be able to swap the gear set into my trans so I'll have a lsd still.

He needs a whole new transmission just because of one gear? Maybe it's just a synchro

Cheaper and easier than fixing one gear.

Getting the trans for free.

90% of people on here can't replace a trans themselves let alone a gear or synchro.

Most shops don't have the tools to work on these either. SO it's easier to just find a good used one and replace the whole thing.
