2008 Cobalt SS/TC CLUTCH ENGAGING

Does everyone who has a new 08 Cobatl SS/TC hear the clutch engage and disengage loudly when shifting or is it just me?

IsItFast? 06-21-2008 08:35 AM

I can hear the whirring of the synchronizers when shifting, but I don't think I've ever heard the clutch... Ill listen on the way home from work this morning.

thehov 06-21-2008 08:39 AM

I hear it......... But like IsItFast said its the synchro's your hearing along with a bit of clutch chatter probably....

IsItFast? 06-21-2008 08:40 AM

also it may be just the clutch breaking in - I already have almost 3000 miles on my car so it may be just fully broken in.

PimpLay2 06-21-2008 12:20 PM

yea I heard it alot under 1k miles but now I am at about 1,800 and I dont hear it that much

MapOfTaziFoSho 06-21-2008 01:16 PM

Just the nature of the beast. It's fine.

sherm420 06-21-2008 01:17 PM

ya i dont hear it anymore im at 1200 miles

steddy2112 06-21-2008 01:20 PM

You are used to it that's why:lol:

Clutch gets a little weight to it after a few miles too.

Cobaltss/TC 06-21-2008 03:54 PM

This is great we all got our cars at the same time, i only have 700 miles on mine and yeah i can hear the clutch

steddy2112 06-21-2008 03:55 PM

A little over 1000 here.

I may be the only one with out a sunroof.

Less weight FTW!

rudeone79 06-21-2008 07:53 PM

i actually dont hear anything

Z_Ghost 06-23-2008 03:26 AM

I have 838 miles on my car.
I hear the tires on a lot of roads but other then that I have the radio turned up a lot most of the time.
I can hear the trans when I back up but just driving down the road no I can not hear the clutch.

I am probably the only one here that does not have LSD on his car.

Clutch / gear engagement noise is about the same as my old ss/sc, tire noise is defintely more, but interior feels so much better. I had squeaks and rattles within the first week of ownership on the old car.

And yes, the clutch definitely gets heavier after the first tank...but still not as heavy as the ss/sc. And the engagement point is closer to the floor, which I enjoy. :twothumbs

I dont. More headroom FTW. I wanted the sunroof but I needed about an inch more headroom.

madlion 06-23-2008 10:26 PM

ive got about 1500 miles and ive heard it on and off the same thing you guys are talking about... i was sooo paranoid id turn down the radio and off the A/C to try and hear the softest sounds..good thing this faint noises are normal.

Rissa 06-23-2008 10:38 PM

Hmm when I get it back tomorrow night I shall have to listen. I never really noticed anything though, haven't driven with music up loud at all because I just like listening to my car :)

How tall are you? I was surprised by the amount of headroom in this car, even with the sunroof. Only car with a sunroof I've sat in where my head didn't hit the roof.

6'5", I could have fit if I didnt mind driving laying down in a horrible driving position, but I like to be safe with both hands on the wheel in the correct placement with the right amount of bend in my arms (not stretching to reach the wheel)

PimpLay2 06-24-2008 01:29 PM

lmao 6'5 turn the numbers around and thats my height :D

Ah, that'll do it. I'm 6'2", and I just keep the seat at the bottom-most position.

no way steddy2112 i dont have a sunroof either, my old 2007 ss/sc had a sunroof leak and gm couldn't fix it so they bought it back from me and gave me a ss/tc i had it ordered without a sunroof of course. Oh and yes my clutch is a little loud when going from 1st to 2nd have about 950 miles on it
