2009 Rally Yellow SS Sedan Detailed Production Figures and Info

2009 Rally Yellow SS sedans

Of the 759 SS sedans made in 2009, 36 were painted Rally Yellow.

Some Rally Yellow Sedan Trivia:
  • 36 Rally Yellow sedans were built for the 2009 model year (includes all markets, domestic and export) and is the rarest color for the 2009 SS sedan.
  • The first 2009 model Cobalt built (last six digits of VIN are 100001) happened to be a Rally Yellow SS sedan with sunroof, limited slip diff, USB radio, and also has code OAR "Pre Production Vehicle" with a build date of 4/15/2008 (yes April 2008). This car didn't get into the hands of a dealer until August 2010 and it had an odometer reading of 186 miles. It was finally sold to a private individual in Sept 2010. So the first 2009 SS cobalt built was likely the last one to ever be sold to private individual. The car is now in KY.
  • There was one Rally Yellow Sedan built with code OAQ "Plant Pilot Vehicle" and it was equipped with a solid roof, no limited slip, standard radio.

Over the years I compiled a list of VINs for every Rally Yellow sedan that I've seen in person or on the web. So far my list contains 24 of the 36 cars. I've got the detailed information for each car in an Excel spreadsheet which I will post after I put it into a format that is easy to read. In the meantime here is some generic detail about how those 36 cars were equipped.

I know it's hard to read because it is so small but you can click it and open it in a larger size in PhotoBucket to read the detail.
Here is the spreadsheet I've been compiling with known VINs that I've seen in person or on the Internet. I left digit out of each VIN (the random digit that is different for each car). If you have or know of a VIN for a Rally Yellow sedan that is not already included in this list please let me know so I can add it. I only need the VIN, with that I can look up all the other info for the car based on the VIN.

Regret selling yours? lol

Nice write up!

Related to one of the last posts, I almost wouldn't want to know how many a wrecked;
The astounding attrition rate of SS/TC's is to blame for our expensive (for a compact Chevrolet) insurance...

I personally have seen too many scrapped SS/TC's, and the most recent one was a sedan...

:(

Theres an error on your spreadsheet. One of the VINs has a build date of 11/17/2015. Im guessing it should be 11/17/2008 from where it is located on the spreadsheet.

SS4speed 03-26-2015 02:45 PM

How do you find out this info.. I'm wanting to know about my 2009 white lnf

Future SS Owner 03-28-2015 02:41 PM

Someone probably works at Chevrolet and found out that way

Mr Mall Cop 03-29-2015 09:38 AM

Good to know

YellowSS2.0 03-30-2015 10:40 PM

Not active much on here anymore but mine is not on the list so there's one more that's not totaled. PM sent to Gary so hopefully he'll add it. Getting ready to sell so I won't be the owner for long but it's been a fun car!

Good times... Rolled up on the dyno, quiet as quiet can be and everyone asking "WTF is that thing going to do?"

First pull, 306/357 and everyone went from :r: to :wtf:

Second and best pull, 311/360

Mechanically stock running a somewhat conservative E47 tune
