245/40-18's on 2010 Stock Cobalt SS Rims

Hello,
Is anyone running 245/40-18's in place of 225's on stock rims on 2008 to 2010 Cobalt SS ?
If so, any issues caused by this ??
Thanks,
Jeff

Is it possible yes, are you gaining anything over a 235 tire, no. Since the wheel isn't as wide as the tread, the tread will tend to wrap around into the sidewall. So your contact patch hitting the road won't be 245. Plus you will probably lose a little handling also. I run 235's on a 8"rim and they are about perfect. 245's really need a 8.5 rim to take advantage of the width of the tire. Believe factory wheel is only 7.5. You can run them if you have to but it will probably hurt performance.

Thanks. The reason I ask is because Michelin is now offering a Pilot Sport 4S that is the replacement for the Pilot Super Sport. On the Tire Rack sight it is better in all categories across the board. BUT for 18" tires is only offered in 245/40ZR18, while the Super Sport has all 18" sizes. I called Michelin and filed a query/request with them, not that it will do any good.

So it's just a matter of rim width being 7.5" instead of the required 8.0" with the 245 ? No rub issues ??
Thanks again.

Guys run them but they are to bitmg for the wheel. The rim size recommendation is normally a minimum. You will have more tire on the road then the rim can provide a contact patch for

Under hard turning they roll over quite a bit. If your just driving in a straight line and don't care about where the contact patch of your tire is go for it.

Just buy the Super Sports. The differences are minimal at most.
