Anybody bought the GM Protection Plan ( extended warranty ) ?
I did a quick search, and the only good hit I saw involves a For Sale car that was still within the 3/36 factory warranty.
It doesn't look bad for $ 1270.00 , Linky and being thru GM you don't have to worry about the company going belly up ...
Since they already did it !!!
Wonder if anybody had any experience w/ it. 1 power window motor and an a/c compressor crap out would even it out, and it mentions wear and tear items which really makes me wonder - rear brakes ?

Thanks !
Britt

I bought mine with the SS/SC for about $900 or so for Major Guard (Used, of course. Eligible because I was within the 12/12 Certified warranty). Paid for itself so far:
Engine sensors (Barometric, MAP)
Throttle Body
Driver front hub assembly (Bearings shot)
Ebrake assembly (Twice)
Right rear caliper (leaking)
Sway bar insulators
Sway bar end links (Both sides)
I believe you still have to have warranty remaining to get it (Just get it right before your factory warranty expires).

The GMPP policy is good depending on which policy you choose. Deductible can range from $0-$200. This will cover pretty much any mechanical part (engine, fuel pump, tranny, ac parts, radios etc...) but will not cover wear and tear items (brake pads, clutch etc...factory warranty technically doesn't cover them either)
I bought the gmpp on my 07 sssc but never used it because I traded it for my sstc...which also has the gmpp.
I was a svc advisor at the local chevy dealer for a while, and this warranty saves people alot of $$. As long as you are still under the factory warranty or if it has a gmpp used car policy you can purchase a Major Guard policy on top of it

No worse than factory warranty, really... or any other aftermarket extended warranty for that matter.
Working with GMPP on an almost daily basis, I'd say its the best bet as far as extended warranties go. Most everything is covered and there's very little hassle to getting repairs done.

I got gmpp major guard 5/75 bumper to bumper 0 deductible and only cost 300 something. Just rolled over 36k figured I would go to the dealership and tell them replace a few things and look it over and see if anything else needs done then when they call saying it's gonna be $$$ I'll be like hummm no gmpp son. Some check before some don't. Gonna be a pissed off tech
I got a letter in the mail a few months back, and a 'friendly reminder' letter here recently. If I go w/ a warranty, I feel better about the GM one than an aftermarket one.
Price is in line w/ what I remember of the aftermarket one I had on my Camaro, which paid off although for the tranny they would only pay for a used replacement.

However, it works, and is still in the car some 35K later.
The dealer did a water pump - no brainer as I could do it in a few hours or less for $ 150.00 in parts, or I could have GM do it for my $ 50.00 co pay.
GM got $ 350 I think for a new water pump - what a rape.
At any rate, I am still debating. I am a cheap so & so, though - still putting off buying new tires .
Good Luck !
Britt

Depends on your dealer, even with the regular factory warranty. The dealership closest to my house took two weeks to call GM and verify that GMPP covers hub bearings (and flat out didn't do jack **** for my limp mode issue from the Throttle Body) while the one 7 miles down the road had a new hub bearing on the same day I took it in and had the throttle body ordered (and also put the new sway bar insulators in too since they noticed they just happened to be shot).
If the dealer's service department is giving you hell over stuff that is covered by GMPP, call GM and complain (and/or leave a bad rating on those little rating cards the dealers like to send out). Some dealers need to have a fire lit under them a bit to do what they're supposed to.
