anyone getting tired of their cobalt?
anyone getting tired of their cobalt?
i bought my 09 ss/tc sedan brand new in aug. 2009 i have officially owned it for two years now. i have put a couple of bolt ons on it, several different tunes (including E47), ran it at the track several times, and really had some fun with it (surprised alot of people with it). it needs new tires on it, and i am maxed out on my tune(s) (getting clutch slip). truth is, i am getting bored with it. i feel in order to take it to the next level, i would have to put some serious money in it (tires, clutch, turbo swap or more bolt ons etc.). i just don't want to do that. i almost feel its time to move on. i bought mine during the cash for clunkers deal, and i paid 17,700 for it. so, i won't get hurt on it if i trade it in. any comments? should i ditch it or keep it? i have already been on autotrader looking. lol.
well, it seems that maybe i'm not the only one that feels this way. i'm not bashing my balt in any way, actually it has been really reliable. i'm just starting to feel that its time for a change. idk. lol.
Lol so many people are selling their cobalts, maybe its cause i only bought mine a year ago, but i dont see myself selling it in the next 5 years lol.
May i ask why your selling?

well, according to a couple websites, typical dealer trade value is about $14,000.00
looks like i need to call my bank and see what payoff is. i will not carry over any negative equity onto another car loan. i will keep it for a little while longer. gonna go look for the banks phone number . lol...

I'm still undecided how long I'll keep mine. Be hard to find a better DD for year round driving, lots of power and great fuel mileage. My original idea was to keep it for 3 years and sell for something with a V8 or along those lines for a toy. Then I get thinking that I could keep what I have and just buy a second beater while adding more power to the Balt plus I won't have to go into more debt.
Personally I still love my balt. No of course it's not perfect, but if you purchase a cobalt expecting perfection on any level you are absolutely delusional or just plain retarded. I have owned more expensive and nicer vehicles in the past but as far as bang for the buck and factory performance it's by far the best car I have owned to date.
Just want something else but don't get me wrong its a ton of fun i'm just bored with modding. I get bored quick and i'll end up putting 20k in the car and i'll feel the same way 2 weeks after lol. I would like to find a nice car and leave it stock and in ten years i'll have my mid life crisis and do it all again.
Thats what happens when you buy a 4 banger. 325-350 hp or more you start looking at some serious money. Maybe time to look at a nice v8 where that where you start with that kinda hp. Ive got an 05ss and Ive had mine since 07 and i cant even count on my fingers and toes how many times ive considered selling. I looked at everything in the 30k range, used lotus elise/exige, new sti, evo, used goats, and corvettes, even a T/C.
Two problems exist, one: the car Isn't with anymore than the dirt on my shoes, so its not worth selling. And honestly with all the problems Ive had with my ss id rather buy new but dont want a 400 plus payment.
So imma be happy with my 05 ss and my 215 dollar monthly payments, however once its payed off its game time!
Edit: Used car prices have been going up considerably! With the crisis still going on in japan, the heavy hitters, Toyota, Acura, Honda, Subaru, Mitsubishi, still arent producing cars to full capacity, so theres a ton less new cars to buy. Top that off with the economy and nobody really buying new, and what you get is used car prices going up!

Since buying a bike this spring I have been really re-evaluating continued ownership of the SS/SC. The bike is so much more fun and I am getting to the point in my life were I am starting to value practicality over fun to drive. Plus I can't stand the terrible plastics in the interior. Overall, the car has been extremely reliable and very fun but I think it is getting to be time to move to something a little more refined and practical.
If you have the opportunity park it for a week or two and drive something slow (by comparison); you might miss it. Mines getting the tranny pulled due to some bearing noise and I'm in a Malibu loaner-comfy but short on *****.
I'm also usually in my truck so mine hasn't become boring yet.
