Belt # for SS/TC without A/C

Hey,

I can't find the thread from years ago that told us what the belt number is for bypassing the a/c compressor on an '09 LNF. Can I get a little help?

Thanks,

chevy2

You can also ask the parts store for a non-A/C cobalt belt. There's no difference for the LNF.

Confirmed, the belt works. A second thank-you.

FWIW, the new belt (which now bypasses the a/c compressor) works with the compressor in place; there's over an inch of space between the a/c pulley and the installed bypass belt. Test drive reveals there's no gain by bypassing the a/c pulley . I can spin the a/c pulley with my little finger (compressor clutch disengaged, of course).

This time I did go through the wheel well, removing the fender liner and the right splash guard, and used a bottle jack with a (stout) 1x2 bearing on the outer bottom edge of the tensioner. I think next time I need to replace the belt I'll try to get the splash guard off without removing the fender liner, use the jack and 1x2 from underneath and work the old belt off and new belt on from the top, inside the engine compartment. It's understood that you have to drop the jack to get the old belt out of the way and the new belt inside the 1x2 before jacking the tensioner up again. We'll see....

I have heard of so many people having problems with the belt. There are only a few long handle ratchets tools that work with it.
