best 0-60 tire for TC's
 

Has anyone done any research on the best/most rubber tire when it meets the road. I have S04's and while they are good tires, the rain grooves in them really take away alot of rubber surface. I'm looking to get the power down earlier than 45-50mph, but dont really want a 2,000 mile tire. No drag slicks or drag radials. Something like a NT01 but with just a little more flexibility. I don't purposely drive in the rain, and these would just be summer only tires. My 235's dont have as much rubber as my old 225's did due to the rain grooves. Was thinking of something like the star specs ( 8-10,000 mile tires). Instead of going bigger turbo over the winter, i want to try and get the power down better, and use what the car already puts down, Thanks ahead of time for recommendations.

I have the star specs n I personally love them. I have them on my 09 tc zfr fully bolted on 91 octane n they almost always grab in 2nd at 40mph. They will occasionally spin but 9/10 they always hook up right off the bat. Of course, I'm assuming it depends on what kind of tune u have too so I'll let my tuner's (I've had 3) chime in on that. However, to be clear I have Powell's 4.45 tranny too so my tune shouldn't be ramped. I've had these tires for about a year now with about 10k miles and they're almost done. Still some tread left but its raining like crazy now so I'll be replacing them soon. I would highly recommend them. However, I've only tried them on a dig once and well, u can't expect them to do too well because with a zfr only slicks will hook. Lol

Nt01s and r888s use the same compound

easier to do suspension work to put the power down. or not build too much power for the chassis.

That's the trick- with 400ft lbs of torque on tap, it's hard to plant it with a 235 tire. The car does ok after it bites somewhere in 2nd, which depends on tire temp and pavement. I have Powell yyz springs,trans mounts, and cabs. 09cobaltss1 tunes it and it's at stock boost in 1st, ramped in 2nd. K04+ turbo, fully bolted.
If we could put down what it makes reasonably quick it would make these cars even deadlier in a dig race, even without a big turbo.

It's not much bigger than stock but at least it will keep up to 6,500. I'm glad I purchased it. Planting the torque is a little hard to do.

I would have been more than happy with the bnr 2871 turbo forever, as it maxes out about 400hp. But I didn't want a blow off valve. Don't need a tire spinning zfr either till I can somewhat hook it up.

In need for speed when I spun the tires I'd hit NOS and it would grab traction how big of a shot do you think it would take to grab like that??

Your best bet is to buy a pair of 17's and get a drag radial, EFox or something was dead hooking first fully bolted tuned stock turbo but his clutch started to slip soon after.

I hear ya Andrew and I read his thread about the et streets. He also only got 2,000 miles out of them. I have 555r's myself, and they don't handle well, and of course won't last long. I was looking at the next step down from them. The 888's look appealing, and I will probably decide in the next few days between them and the newer star specs. Good time of the year to buy these as they are discounted.
888's at tire rack are 249, star spec 2's are 225, and will last a little longer. Thanks

What tire you end up going with?? I'm now with cams on e85 and k04+ down in mia , should I increase size of tire??

Haven't decided just yet. I hope you have a boost ramp already built in. While these turbos don't get near the hp as the bigger ones, they have as much if not more potential for torque due to spoil time being short. You should run really well with your setup and if you want to hook you are going to need good tires. 235-40 wouldn't hurt and will fit on stock rims. They aren't much bigger but every little bit helps.

yeah im very happy with the power the only thing is, my ca wont go past 23 psi... its making power fuel is fine... i checked bpv on turbo, all ic piping copplings are fine, my wastegate nut on rod is maxed out... if my front mount is too low could it maybe have cracked?? bt if it did how would i still be buildin boost?? my tuner says i should be at 26 psi and now im on full e85 on dyno i only made 305 hp he says i should be at 390... around there.. we even unplugged boost solenoid and went open wastegate floored the car and it still wont go past 22 - 23 psi... and for the tires what brand yu goin with?

You on stock map sensors?

I really like my old Nt05s I'm gonna get a set of 18x9 fast wheels and run a 255/35r18 so I'm guessing that'll do the trick for me

If your fueling is fine, and you are dyno'ing on a dynojet you should be around 370-385 I would guess on e85. I am going to try and do e47 in the spring if traction is better. Sure you have 3 bar map sensors?
I'm either doing nitto nt05's, 01's, or direzza star spec 2's.

I'm on my stock sensors bt my tuner says he's reading all my sensors fine that isn't the problem... I'm on full e85 .. I'm going to have to check ic piping and ic co re ..
