Best Aftermarket Exhaust?

So i originally cut out the muffler from my car thinking i wasnt going to come across any exhaust parts for a bit so i wanted some extra noise....

Well i was wrong and i recently aquired and installed ZZP 3" catless DP, and while its oh so much louder... i think it might be a bit much in the higher RPM ranges... mainly 2nd and 3rd gear...

What are the best sounding downpipe back exhausts... i know ZZP has one, and so does Hahn i believe, what else?

I'm rocking a catless zpp dp and a mpx exhaust with the muffler delete section at the moment.

There is no best it's just everyone's opinion. I like mpx because it all bolts together and can easily switch out the muffler if you want.

ive been running mpx catted downpipe and mpx cat back exhaust for almost 3 years. i still love the sound, its quiet at idle and has a deep growl so its not too ricey. and then at WOT it opens up but not too much. My buddy has the regular turbo xs downpipe and exhaust and it really doesnt differ much in sound i dont think, maybe a little louder.

Here's a shameless plug for Magnaflow. The company used my car for the prototype catback for the SS/TC. So far, I'm very happy. They have a couple of videos on their website you can listen to. Listen: MagnafFlow Equipped 2009 CHEVY COBALT SS MagnaFlow PN 16875

I too installed the MPx this summer. I love it. Was 400 plus shipping, can't beat that either. I have the muffler on mine though with a catless downpipe. Fitment was flawless as well and it looks badass.

i always recomend the aro turbine series of mufflers. i had a 2540i on my cavalier and it was very deal and not raspy at all. sounded great and i got a very slight boost in mpg. my buddy had one on his civic si and it was very deep on there as well and you know how hondas tend to usually sound when you open up their exhaust.

I'd most likely go with a muffler simply because i know what its like without one... it'd tame the sound just a bit i think...

I have zzp catless dp and muffler delete. I hate it. I love a loud exhaust. But when u step on it, it's so raspy. As bad as Honda with no muffler. Do u guys have the same problem? I can't believe how bad it sounds.

Are you turbo'd? I have a ZZP Catless DP on my LNF with stock catback and it sounds pretty good IMO. I might replace the muffler with a Twister Muffler later. They sound nice on four bangers... On my prevous car, when I asked the muffler shop to install a muffler that will give it a deep sound and not sound like a honda (no offense to the honda people on here) they slapped that on. Loved it.

I have a ZZP 3" catless DP and MPX 3" exhaust with no muffler. I love the sound just daily driving, but when I go WOT it's just obnoxious, and gets a lil raspy. I hate the rasp.

Is the Borla XR-1 a bolt-on muffler? What is the part number?

What are some bolt-on mufflers available? I don't care to change the other pipes.

Don't listen to what exhaust shops tell you. Had a bunch of kids at one tell me if I cut my muffler off it'd sound like **** and be ricey.

ehh i've thought about slapping a flowmaster or magnaflow on there calling it done... granted a 3" DP and a 2.5" exhaust iirc isnt helping me any.. might have to go 3" all the way back

If you're talking about bolt-on mufflers to the stock exhaust piping the answer is none. From the cat-back it's all a one piece pipe, so the factory muffler would have to be cut off and something welded on.

Thanks. I looked at the exhaust and see that it is the typical factory design. My Mustang was designed quite differently with pieces that are band-clamped together to facilitate easier swapping.

Is there really a benefit to sound with an aftermarket cat-back? The stock exhaust looks to be 2.5" mandrel bent, with a resonator and a straight-through muffler. The muffler looks like a suitcase design but I don't see any perforations/baffling on the inside, it looks to be straight through.
