Cobalt SS/T vs STI

i know this has probably been discussed before but just wanted some people's thoughts. I have seen and heard on many occasions that the sst is faster then the sti around the ring. I told that to a friend of mine and wow is he retarded. he thinks that the sti is the faster track car and that an evo is faster than an sti. i told him simply you're retarded. do research before you talk. obviously yes the evo and sti are very close but you have to admit 9 out of ten times the evo wins. I specifically told him the 2004 sti lost to the sst but he still doesnt believe me lol. wow people are jsut dumb. sorry for the new thread i just had to vent. lol

P.S. this other kid who is a "certified mechanic" that appartently knows more about cars then anyone. thinks that the cobalt gets its a** handed to the sti as well.

thats what i would think, that the sti handles better ,but arount the nurembrug (however u spell it) the cobalt prob does take it, bc thers really no use for awd there ,besides off the launch

exactly my point. looked it up on www.fastestlaps.com/track2.html
the cobalt sst wins. end of discussion. i know (with both good drivers) an sti will win in the quarter but not around that track. and yes i know they are both completely different cars. but doesnt mean you cant compare them.

you obviously don't know anything about the Nurburing which is what he is talking about. Yes it is a road course but it's mostly straightaways and not-so-sharp turns.

I have never been beaten by a sti at the track. Obviosly never went up against a big turbo sti, but ther was one of the newer ones and he said he was stage two Cobb everything and only went 12.8 with a 1.8 60 foot. Another one was a 40 roll with a older one that had some Bolton and was on stock tune. After the race he said he didn't know they made fast cobalts.

That's why you can count the number of AWD cars in the Koni Cup challenge last year on one hand.

Where are all the AWD race cars at that aren't rally cars?

Get for real now.

Race cars are FWD or RWD.

AWD is good for street drag racing and rally racing.

Facts:

The Cobalt SS/TC beat the Subaru STI around the 'Ring. It also beat multiple versions of the Evo, except the IX.

The Cobalt SS T/C beat the Evolution X, Subaru STI, S2000 CR, Audi S5, and Lexus ISF around Virginia International Speedway.

Why i can say for fact that the SS/TC set a nice record for ...what was it.. FWD 4 banger boosted cars around "The Ring" in Germany

Dude.. I have rode in an STi more than once ( admit, never drive).. but the fact is, the dude driving the STi is hell of a lot more experienced driver ( shifter, SS/TC was my first stick/manual) than myself.

Besides for the AWD ( snow and traction factor) the STI wouldn't really be that much faster AUTO-X

Your friend is dumb - Take solace in knowing you are a bit more intelligent than he is.

cheers.

For the record- an STI and cobalt SS/TC that Auto-Xed together.. for the most part, would come down to driver MOD... STi is not weak by any means. But fanbois will be fanbois

I got my 2009 SS/TC FULLY LOADED, off the delivery truck, in Aug of 2008 ( daddy works for GM, GMS pricing and discounts) for about 24k ( with taxes included).

Correct me if I am wrong, but a new STi( lets say the non wagon wrx or whatever ( dunno if that version even has STi edition).. But like a brand new 2007 STi ( they made em that year right?) Fully loaded was a bit over 30k$??? Right?

so take that difference, drop in INTO your engine/drivetrain.... your waxing the **** out of an STi

ever since they turned the Impreza WRX into a IMHO,, faggin-waggon, I stopped following.

seriously, I hate hatch backs. Sorry... nothing against peeps who may like them

But I seem to remember like a 2007 FULLY LOADED STi going for low 30,000$....

All I know is the 6-8 k$ diff between a fully loaded SS/TC and STi... driver mod aside... the SS/TC will wax that ass like Miaggi( if you are scratching your head now, you fail, karate kid)

god damnit, as much as I hate to agree with Steddy, hes 100% right. get real.

True story, Michiganfag here ( jesus to much 4chan). We had some recent fresh snow over the past 2 weeks, about 16 inches here around Lansing over the past 2 weeks ... most of it fell on 2 Seperate days.

I Live in a VERY small town ( not 1 light,...but not much bigger) And at like 1:30 AM, this black WRX ( not STi) pulls up next to me... and in my town... THIS IS WEIRD... somewhat.... I look over at him.. he looks at me... its still snowing.. opposite lanes turn yellow... im like WTF am I GOING TO DO.. i been launching from 2nd gear all night just trying not to spin the new all seasons I just got.

He revs pretty high as the opposing lanes light turns yellow...... our light turns green... this WRX does a full launch in 4 inches of snow---- im left way behing taking about 10 seconds just to get going 20 MPH- First time I have been REALLY jealous of AWD.

I bet us 4 season states appreciate AWD a lot more than o say SoCal for DailyDrivers

I don't think people take into account that the 2008+ SS/TC has a newly resdisigned suspension, rather than just an engine upgrade. Most people out there compare their "amazing tuner cars" to the '05-'07 SS specifications.

yep, I ran a tuned sti the other day, he did pull on me slightly at the straight aways, but when it came to the corners I was riding his back bumper. I bet he looked in his rear view mirror and was like wth?!?!?!

id say the Evo X and SS/TC are about equal. the SS beat the Evo around VIS but the Evo beat the SS around Laguna Seca. and they are all within .5 seconds of each other

never seen a Nurburgring time on the Evo X so im not sure who would win.

Raced a 2004 2.5L turbo Sti sedan on a 40 roll both cars stock, left him standing still it seemed like(Sti driver said he didnt mess up at all so it was a clean race) I like all makes and models of cars but when it comes down to bang for your buck the ss/tc takes the win in my book and I got my 2008 ss/tc brand new off the floor for 16,500 w/ tax and financing stayed under 21,000. Find that deal on a Subaru wrx or sti brand new,

didn't the SSTC beat the evo X around VIR for C&D lightning lap? Then inturn the evo beat the Sti by a large margine. End state SSTC>Evo>Sti? On that track at least. only huge advantage either car has on the TC is from a dig... after that the weight of the AWD's shows its face.
