Cold start driving?

What's up guys, the other morning I was running late for work and didn't let my car warm up (I usually do) and I got it and drove it and when I was going down the road, I shifted into 2nd gear, and went to give gas normal driving, and the car didn't go nowhere and the exhuast was loud like the wastegate was open or something?.. I thought it was a glitch and drove the car cold when I left work and did the same thing..

Basically no throttle response and the exhaust gets real loud and raspy but don't go anywhere lol. Anyone ever experience this? Or have any input?

2010 LNF bolted an tuned .

modern cars are designed to be able to be started up and driven right away, though i also like to let mine warm up a bit before taking off. sounds like a wierd glitch

You were just dumping fuel and pushing the gas pedal down to far before the turbo was up to rpm's to spool. so in that case your just dumping fuel with out adding boost..

It does this every time.. Why though? Maybe next time I'll look at what my AFR is doing?

If i let it warm up for 5 min it's fine. But if I start and wait a few seconds and drive off.. It doesent like that at all. Maybe it's a sensor or something . I'll try to get a video for you guys.

u realize that the accelerator pedal doesnt directly add fuel right? this isnt a diesel.

thats like... one of the dumbest things ive heard. lolol

any abs/traction lights? i know when im spinning and traction control kicks in sometimes the exhaust sounds weird.... kinda raspy and loud... not sure if related. maybe it was pulling a **** tone of timing or soemthing?

I start my car and let it reach 40 degrees C before I drive it lightly, something is up with your car, I don't have this issue ever.

If I were to guess I'd have to say it's because everything inside your engine hasn't warmed up yet, so it's chemical properties aren't what they are when they are warm. The viscosity of cold oil is a bit different when it's cold(specially with this frigid winter we've been having on the NE) so nothing inside your engine is going to move as freely or easily as normal. Your turbo will not spool as fast since the oil is providing more resistance same goes for the super charger and any other engine components.

I don't know if this is right or not, when I start my car up from a cold start I tend to take it easy till it gets closer to operating temps before I dig in it. On extremely cold days I'll let my car warm up for 10 mins first.

I think it's because the car doesn't read from the o2 sensor until a certain coolant temp. The cold weather makes these cars run lean...if you feel it hesitating then let off the gas.

Before the LNF came out people were blowing up their stage 2 and up LSJs left and right once the weather got extremely cold. Every winter there was a new thread about it.

I think the hesitation is fuel related. I can tell at least on mine when it does it it's not getting enough fuel. Could be condensation in the tank, dirty fuel filter, plugs out of gap, etc.

These cars have always done this. You need to let them warm up to about 120*F before going even 1 lb into boost...

It's not spinning or anything it's just like go to accelerate lightly and the car just sounds loud and raspy but doesent go anywhere. Like it's in a dead spot? I'll get a video to put up maybe and I'll record AFR

Iirc gm has timing pulled when the engine is cold, you shouldn't be getting on it till 160f for coolant temp

so you've never had your car in second and pulled the clutch in and slowed down and then let it out in second say around 15 mph and put the gas to the floor? please tell me what happens. the exhaust gets loud as hell and you dont go anywhere.

Ya because your bogging the **** out of the engine. No. I haven't done that because I'm not retarded. And I doubt op is doing that on a cold motor...

I've been late waking up for work before but I always let the cat warm up cycle finish before I go anywhere, preferably I wait until at least 120°F to start off.. if I'm late I'm late... so long as it's not four hours late I'm getting half a point and be it 2min or 59min late they take an hour of PA time to cover it...

No reason to bash the car because I couldn't wake up hah

Yeah x2. You can let the clutch out in second at 10mph but don't floor it lmao. Shift to first first.

This is not an "issue", ever notice how the needle bounces all over the place for the first minute if you don't warm it up slightly?

Don't drive the car until it is out of CAT warm up mode. Only takes 20 to 30 seconds and one bitchy comment from your gf, then it's good to drive.

My lsj hates it when I don't let her warm up. It acts all kinds of crazy jerking on take off and what not if it not warmed up. Once it is warm, it is fine.

You can drive the car normally as soon as you start it, just don't beat on it until it's warm. It will behave slightly differently until it reaches operating temp, and might be easier to notice if you have aftermarket parts (slightly rougher idle, some extra turbo noise on light throttle, etc), but it's not harmful. If you're letting it sit for several minutes you're just wasting gas. To each their own though.
