Convince me (further) to buy an SS/TC

Hey folks, new guy here.

So I'm early 20's, I have a well paying, stable, secure job. I want a good highway commute vehicle (have a lifted wrangler right now- it will make you **** your pants driving in the mud, but it's terrible on actual roads)

I make enough money that there is nothing stopping me from buying a brand new car right now. The down economy doesn't really effect me, and now is a great time to buy a car.

So the deal is, i test drove an ss/sc yesterday (no bowtie dealers near me have any tc's) I was very impressed and thought to myself that i really like that car, and if they improved on that (which i have read that the new car is alot better) then i HAVE TO have one.

So i already know they are fast and easily made faster. I want to know what else you love about your Cobalt.

Any opinions please.

Anyways, yes i believe i'll probably love it upon first drive and sign the papers. I'm really impressed with the new SS, previous to the jeep i had a corrado g60 and the only comparable car that ever kept up with me was a stage 2 SS/SC. but since you need mad money to keep a corrado running good, it's pretty much the best of both worlds to go this route.

Now i just need to decide on the color...

The performance one get at a price that is affordable, at least enough to where one can do mods to it and not break-the-bank so to speak.

OK I noticed you are looking for a good highway vehicle. My car gets astonishing gas mileage on the hwy…my average hwy is like 38mpgs. The car is a great performer and with simple bolt ons and a tune it turns into a real rocket. The only problem with the car that I’ve found…is the interior. Not only is it boring…but it’s cheaper than all get-out. I travel about 60 miles a day total between work and home and school and I must say this thing is incredible on gas for having 260 hp. While driving on the highway, though, I can hear wind coming though my door seals at 65 and up. Any bumps or unevenness in the road bring on the rattles from my center console and the whole right side of my dash (mind you I have a little over 1,600 miles on it). Can’t wait till I hit 10k the rattles should be awesome. Don’t get me wrong this thing looooves to be thrown into turns and when you put your foot down it goes like stink!...but when I put my finger down on the buttons on my steering wheel I feel like they’re going to break right off. The seats are THE nicest thing about the interior…VERY well bolstered. So I guess what I’m trying to say is that if performance is ALL you care about it’s a magnificent piece of work. If you want some nice luxuries and dash pieces that don’t have ź inch gaps from the center console…you may not be pleased.

The interior is great on the TC as far as functionality goes: great iPod control, bluetooth, RPD, DIC. It is very poorly put together though: Windnoise (I have an awesome whistle above 90 so I know when Im goig too fast), rattles, especially from the sunroof, gaps, etc.
Im happy enough with the rest of the car that this doesnt bother me though

Now imagine what highway speed is like in a wrangler! haha I have a nice head unit in the jeep, but i can't remember the last time i could hear it while doing 65mph (top speed, drag limited)

Actually Automobile Mag stated John Heinricy was able to run the SS/TC around Nordschleife in 8:20, same as the new Camaro SS:

my ss/sc has 44,000 on it and the road noise is no different than when i bought it. maybe quieter since i put neogen's on it. with the ss/sc you get leather, optional heated seat, optional polished wheels and the stage 2 kit gets it up there with the tc. if they want to throw down turbo versus blower there's always hahn level 5. but the blower whine is awesome. i have no regrets about owning an sc instead of a tc and i've driven both. both are great cars. imo, the wot box that you can get for the ss/sc would put it very closely matched against a tc.

Personally I want my 06 LS with 50k miles on it back. This SS/TC sucks

KIDDING!!!!!

It's great, fun and I love all of the radio functionality.

This SS is so much more fun to drive than a base model.

The one thing I wish GM did was use the top of the line base Cobalt (heated leather seats, the fully loaded interior) as the SS Turbocharged platform, but that'd probably add to the cost and increase the race-ready weight.

possibly. the turbo is already 100 pounds more. dude said his buttons felt ready to break too, never flet that way. worst part of my interior is the sunroof button, they're all garbage.

For the record, I would not turn my back on a SS/SC if I found one that was the right car for the right price. I'm pretty well settled with a cobalt as my next vehicle. Now it's just which one. Maybe the fuel economy one and i can put alot of stickers on it and be fast.

In reality though, as soon as the sale on my 2 quads are finalized, it's just me searching the dealerships and joining the family. I'd rather make SS payments than raptor payments, and the jeep will be up on the market shortly. I will miss it's snow and inclement weather performance, but that's it

i was just saying i think you'll like either one you get. there are fanboy's for both. if mine was totalled tomorrow i would get a tc just to say i owned both. it's like this, if you miss having leather and you have a tc or you like the polished rims, just buy them from another owner, it's not too hard, i want to do that with the upper tc grill and bluetooth radio. i also want launch control and no-lift shift, but i can buy that for $200 bucks so again, no prob. it's all in the right price and options justy like you said.

yeah, that's the one thing. i have had people question the durability with that tune, but imo we can probably trust hahn to not do anything to jack up our motors.
