Deposit To Testdrive?
 

I went to my dealer the other day, and I was talking to a salesgirl (same girl that sold my bro his 08 Lancer GTS:lol:), but she was saying that if I wanted to take a rip that I'd prolly have to put a deposit down. Anyone else hear of this, I'm in Canada, so Canadians please reply, but if any Americans had this too please tell me.

Yes anytime there is some punk kid that comes on our lot and wants to testdrive some sports car we either pull credit 1st or get a deposit.:lol:

what if they pull up ina ss/sc?

they will assume your mom bought it, and still ask for a deposit :)

all i have to do was walk up to the front desk at the dealership i bought my ss at, and told the guy i wanted to drive the turbo car. they threw me the keys and said have fun

Sounds kinda shady to me. I agree that it sounds like they're just trying to get a deposit. Which dealership?

when i was 17 i walked into a dealership dressed nice after church and i ended up running an errand between dealerships in a $28,000 cobalt ss haha. stupid expensive...anyways, he was pressing me to race this viper on the highway...i was nervous as it is!

Wow I'm 17 and just test drove an 08 SS/TC at my local dealer. My parents weren't with me at the time. He just photocopied my driver's license and I was able to. There is also another salesman at a different dealer that has already promised me a test drive as soon as they get one in.

I was looking at the 350Z when it first came out, and noone got to test drive that thing without a deposit. Dealerships seem to do that with some of the sportier or more desireable cars.

When I bought my truck the salesman let me test-drive it with no questions, but then said I could take it home for the night to show my wife (back at the very beginning of their overnight testdrive campaign) with a $100 deposit. I just laughed at him and told him I'd just bring my wife in a few days later to take a look at it. He ended up letting me take it home without the deposit, and we came back later that night and did the paperwork on it.

I would tell the salesperson to shove it up their ass. Ask them why you would put a deposit down on vehicle you arn't even sure you like because you havn't driven it yet.

lol, it looks the same as a $22,000 SS.... and it does the same also. The diff is the size of the dealer's shlong... More mark up, the bigger there trying to eff you. :lol:


And I would think they way you present yourself might have somthing to do with them asking for a DP to test drive. My whole fam buys cars from this one dealer, so if I go in, they know me and have no prob letting me test drive anything I want... ex the Vette's cuz we both know there is 0 chance I could afford one of them... :twothumbs
