im guessing a malfunction of the EVAP vent valve.

that's exactly what it is.

i have thrown that code for a while now, it has nothing to do with drivability or even gas mileage as I still get 280-300 miles per tank. it's only for emissions.

It is not the vent valve it is just as it states. it is the evap purge solenoid stuck open. take off the evap line on the purge solenoid start up the car and you will have vacuum at the solenoid if it is stuck open

Because I thought that was my problem because it would throw that code only with the spare ECU in.

Powertrain mods may not effect your emissions equipment warranty. I think it's like a 7 or 8 year warranty on emissions equipment. Maybe call a dealership that isn't your normal dealership and just ask them if they are able to look at your problem under warranty even though you have xxx mods. They probably will...
