There was a recall on front rotors for a limited number of cars as well, I believe due to possible stress cracks forming. I had mine replaced about 18 months ago. I'll see if I can dig up the specifics.

Edit: My bad, it's a TSB, and for warping, not cracking.

#08242: Service Update for Inventory and Customer Vehicles - Steering Wheel Vibration - Replace Front Brake Rotors - (Aug 11, 2008)

Subject: 08242 -- Service Update for Inventory and Customer - Steering Wheel Vibration - Replace Front Brake Rotors - Expires with Base Warranty

Models: 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt SS

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

THIS SERVICE UPDATE INCLUDES VEHICLES IN DEALER INVENTORY AND CUSTOMER VEHICLES THAT RETURN TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR ANY REASON. IT WILL EXPIRE AT THE END OF THE INVOLVED VEHICLE'S NEW VEHICLE LIMITED WARRANTY PERIOD.

Purpose
This bulletin provides a service procedure to replace the front brake rotors on certain 2008 model year Chevrolet Cobalt SS vehicles. On some of these vehicles, the front brake rotors may not be to GM’s specification, resulting in a vibration in the steering wheel or brake pulsation during light braking between 48-56 km/h (30-35 mph) and 97-113 km/h (60-70 mph).

This service procedure should be completed as soon as possible on involved vehicles currently in dealer inventory and customer vehicles that return to the dealer for any type of service during the New Vehicle Limited Warranty coverage period.

Vehicles Involved
A list of involved vehicles currently in dealer inventory is available on the "Service Update Bulletin Information" link under the "Service" tab in DealerWorld (US), or attached to the Dealer Communication (Canada), used to release this bulletin. Customer vehicles that return for service, for any reason, and are still covered under the vehicle's base warranty, and are within the VIN breakpoints provided below, should be checked for vehicle eligibility in the appropriate system listed below.

Important: Dealers are to confirm vehicle eligibility prior to beginning repairs by using the GM Vehicle Inquiry System (GMVIS). Not all vehicles within the above breakpoints may be involved.

Parts Information
Parts required to complete this service update are to be obtained from General Motors Service and Parts Operations (GMSPO). Please refer to your "involved vehicles listing" before ordering parts. Normal orders should be placed on a DRO = Daily Replenishment Order. In an emergency situation, parts should be ordered on a CSO = Customer Special Order.

If you want to PM me your VIN, I can check for any open recalls on your Cobalt.

There was also a recall about the brake lines rubbing if I recall correctly (think it's early 09 or early 10 forget which), but can't remember the name, model year, etc.

I do as well, and if your car has been to the dealership at all in the past 18 months you should have had this done already, assuming your VIN calls for it. I didn't have any of the symptoms the TSB describes, but the replaced my rotors anyway.

Check with your dealership anyway just to be sure. Although by now if you aren't having the symptoms described in the TSB I wouldn't worry about it. If you're worried just replace your rotors when your pads are due. I'm closing in on 42k, but pads are looking to be good past 50. Rears were done at 20k, but fronts are lasting forever.
