so in other words, BRING ON THE STAGES!!! and labor would be something like $65/hr(may be more now, it used to be that) and they look upthe cost and if its a "6 hour job" you pay $390.... on top of the cost of the parts... it may only take them 2 hours to do the work, but they have all of the labor cost in their system, though it could work out for your favor if a 3 hour job turned into a 6, lol

or that is the way it used to be(my dad was a technician for a GM dealership here for a few years)

of course it also depends on the dealer, my brother had a set of 3.73 gears bust in his Trans Am(due to a local shop not getting the pension gear tight enough) and he checked on getting a set of gears put back in at the chevy dealership, they wanted like $1300 to do it, lol... He said no thanks and got another speed shop to put another set in for $350

I've never heard of a pension gear...pardon my car ignorance. I've heard of a pinion gear (of "rack and pinion" pinion), is that what you meant to type or is this an automatic Trans Am and there's a planetary gear I've never heard of?

Well as you can tell from all the posts yes the dealer can install any part you wish for a price. However it affecting your warranty depends on the part. Some parts in the catalogue are marked Off-road items ONLY. Don't expect a dealer to cover one of those parts with a GM factory warranty. On the up side most of the parts with that label are whole engines and come with their own independent coverage. The only thing labeled as such for a cobalt is the stage 3 kit and maybe the cam blanks if I recall correctly. If in doubt get it in writing from your dealer.
