Guage pod with RPD?

Is there any gauge pod that works with the RPD?

Stamina 11-15-2009 01:36 PM

I've been asking this question for half a year or so and I don't think there is. The un-customizable nature of the pages on the RPD are it's only real downfall in my mind. If there's even one thing on another page I want to see, I have to switch pages, and can't see the combo I want. I'd like to put in other gauges in addition to the RPD (like an Interceptor for instance), but no gauge pod exists to do that.

X2 Let's get a vendor going on this!!! :)

BTW, isn't it spelled "Gauge?

I've been trying for a while now...

Bugged ZZP about it several times, on the forum and on their website. No response back. I hear they do good work with gauge pillars/pods too, so it's a bit of a disappointment.

Yup.

Now that all new TC's come standard with the Rpd it would be a good idea for a vendor to make this!:cssNET:

mkulrey13 11-15-2009 08:19 PM

Just buy the ZZP pillar and relocate your RPD..? Prob would mount nicely right behind steeringwheel where the redlines have there boost gauge.

RYRO14 11-15-2009 08:51 PM

Since that is easy to do:lol::lol::lol:

But it would look nice, but that is a lot of work. A vendor would have no problem doing this if they had a car to test it on

Stamina 11-15-2009 10:32 PM

I think the RPD has some wierd flanges that would keep you from doing that unless you wanted to start cutting away at it...

I thought about going the other way with it though... maybe doing a gauge mounted on the steering column or one of those instrument panel integrated ones.

I will be attempting to mount an RPD to my ZZP triple gauge pod in about 2 weeks. I'm doing the conversion from my reg boost gauge to RPD, as well as adding a mechanical boost gauge. I know the mounts on the RPD are COMPLETELY different, so I will write up a how-to (if I can get it to work) on how to mount the RPD to a regular pillar gauge pod, for those who want to do the switch that is, or want a new pillar pod.

If you have the RPD why do you need more gauges??

It's not as configurable as we'd like it to be. It has "pages" that have certain things on them, but if you want to see a certain combination of things you can't do it. There are also some things it doesn't display that would be nice to have.

BYT*SS*TURBO 11-16-2009 10:02 AM

It has Boost and Wideband, typical things people add gauges for.

Boost gauge is not accurate with Infiniboost. I can be pushing 24-25psi and showing 21-22 (or No Data Available ). It also doesn't read vacuum in any way.

You can't see both boost gauge and wideband (or any two things at once). You have to keep flipping around pages for them. Sucks when you're trying to troubleshoot.

I'd like to also make sure I'm not knocking (RPD version doesn't work well if at all) and have the ability to read/clear CELs.

Something like a Dashdaq is expensive overkill for what I need and I don't like the unfinished suction cup mounted appearance of it. Just looking for a little more functionality. If Vince or somebody created RPD software that would allow additional functionality I would be happy with that too.

Sorry to sound like a noob but what gauge shows that?

Pretty much any non-analog aftermarket solution to my knowledge. Aeroforce Interceptor, Dashdaq, Dashhawk, PLX gauges, etc.

They are able to read it off the car's databus and in most cases allow you to reset/erase the codes if you'd like too.

BYT*SS*TURBO 11-16-2009 11:26 AM

A dashhawk would cost as much as 2 gauges and a pod. And wouldn't have the ricey pillar pod too :)

So I can see more than one thing at a time. My RPD will mainly have my A/F on it, and I also don't trust electronic boost gauges. I like mechanical better (as they read a lot more accurate than electric). There's also some things I want to see that the RPD doesn't show.

Ohh, alright. I figured that. I thought you meant there was like a circular gauge that showed that. That's why I was confused.

JPizzle 11-16-2009 01:42 PM

Come on Vendors... Let's get this shit going!!!! :)

Well the Interceptor and PLX are both circular shaped gauges, so those might count for what you're looking for.

importkiller 11-17-2009 11:18 AM

could one use multiple plx's, or is the only dual gauge setup the interceptor dual gauge.

You can connect up to 32 PLXs in a daisy chain, so in other words, you'd be fine.

Two week bump

CudaJoe 12-04-2009 07:51 AM

someone with extra money on hand take the RPD pillar and a dual or triple gauge pod pillar, cut the two in half and make a frankenstein pillar. then wrap it in Carbon Fiber or make a mold with it.... seems simple enough...

Hey. If you can do it, do it! You know? :)
