MAP Sensor questions?

So my car has 28,000 mile on it after two years. Well I have blown 2 map sensors since I got tuned at around 12-16k. I have heard things about the upgraded map sensors by GM but they are redic in the price. I had the dealer replace the first one. But now I don't want to take it to the dealer. I know 24psi is what's killing it but are these upgraded sensors any better? Also why is it that only few cobalts run into this problem?

First off, the boost isn't killing it. Second, you JUST started running 24psi at that LOL. I ran my car for 10k miles at 30 PSI, and I'm STILL on those same sensors..

Some cars have more blowby then others and that oil vapor seems to kill the MAP sensor. Every car Ive seen with blown MAP issues had some blowby. Get a catch can and buy some GMS1 sensors from Autowerks for $100. I can get them for you if you need and then update the tune for those as well.

$99 is cheap, you get what you pay for and the mpx one is direct plug n play. With a generic one you'll have to dick around with all sorts of ****.

$99 bucks for a PnP setup, guaranteed fitment, warranty, and flawless functionality?

Enjoy your eBay setup.

AFAIK the MPx one is designed to mount with no drilling or hassel of figuring out where the heck to mount the thing. It's laid out straight forward for you. If you're more innovative and want to make your own kit. Feel free

Which it sounds like he wants to do, so why hate on him for saving money to do very minimal amount of work lol. I could install that thing in 10 mins.

Its a can, buy one.

I'm not hating. I'm just saying you're going to recieve a box of things no matter which route you go. With a universal setup from eBay, it's your job to figure out where the pieces go and buy/find additional parts when necessary.

Thanks everyone. I'll get the catch can, not sure which one yet. But I do like things being easy but I hate things that are over priced. So I'll go and check them all out and whichever one catches my eye as the best I'll go for it. BYT, I'll get in touch with you via email and let you know when I can have you order those sensors and drive up for another retune.

Once I get this catch can, if I get a new map sensor from dealer you think I will still have the issue of it blowing? Also what does these extra map sensors do exactly?

I ordered the MPx catch can. I want to save the money for bigger better things but I trust MPx way more than anything on eBay.

The MPX catch can probably comes with instructions. That braided hose that goes from your valve cover to your air breather is being replaced by the catch can and supplied tubing. (See from red arrow to red arrow.) The can will mount to the front of the motor so you can access it and because it's at a point lower than the connections, so oil be caught in the can. I'm just assuming this is how it works. I've never seen the MPX catch can installed.

Ive been through 4 or 5 of them. Purchased a MPx catch can about 6 months ago and none of them have failed.
