Has anyone installed a forged divertor valve on the LNF?

More specifically, this from Modern Performance?

My car is stock, save for a K&N Typhoon intake. I am at 121k miles currently and I don't think I should mod this car for performance. It's my daily driver as it is, and if all goes well, it'll be driven into the ground, rebuilt and driven there again for many years to come.

With that said, I really love the "psssht" noise. I don't want an entire charge pipe + BOV, which would be illegal in CA anyway. I'd like something like this, which is apparently meant to be easy to install (someone chime in; I'm not very mechanically inclined). And if it is easy to install, that means it's easy to uninstall, too, so I can go back to stock during SMOG inspections every 2 years.

Anyone with info, please chime in. Is this actually a simple bolt-on or would I be in over my head doing this? In other words, is the ticket worth the price of admission?

colodude18 05-10-2015 11:52 AM

This has NEVER been done.

lol j/k. I'd say most of the moderate to heavily modded TC's run the Forge.
It's a straight swap with the stock BPV, literally takes minutes to install.
It's sturdier than the plastic stock BPV, won't get stuck open or closed as easily, and is generally a little bit louder than stock. I have ran mine for 4+ years, first on the K04, and now on the ZFR. I definitely recommend it!

Getaway_Driver 05-10-2015 12:03 PM

But my car is basically stuck, except for the cai. I wouldn't need a tune for this, right? I mean, it's not like this is something that's adding horsepower.

Snail_SS 05-10-2015 12:16 PM

You wont need a tune. Forge is more for a reliable part sort of like changing your chargepipes. For me it was a tad louder and it also has a better sound than the stock one. Also i thought the K&n intake was illegal in CA

Devin86 05-10-2015 03:29 PM

There isn't a intake u can buy for my 10 that's legal in CA lol cuz it goes by year of the car so they don't even register the 10 the 08 and 09 ur good on a few not a 10 haha the k&n is the quickest to do so most ppl here use it. I just run the zzp Tube and drop in for now. Less noise but mabe 1 day I will grab 1 haha

Getaway_Driver 05-10-2015 03:41 PM

I still have the stock air box, so I'll likely just switch over when I need the SMOG check done this summer.

Does anyone have a simple How-To install for this forge BVP?

Snail_SS 05-10-2015 03:49 PM

Its super easy take the intake off, take off the 3 bolts from the stock bpv i think they are 10mm, take off the vacuum line, install the forge, the only thing i cant remember is the way it the hole the inside of the forge goes to the turbo. Maybe someone can tell you. But I think it was at the bottom

Omiotek 05-10-2015 04:25 PM

no tuning for the bpv is needed but you should have a tune for the intake. ALL of them skew trims

QuickSilver_SS 05-19-2015 02:18 PM

I am currently running the stock air box. Does anyone know if the diverter valve makes it any louder with the srock air box at all ? Or is it only louder when you have an intake ? Ibget the reliablity part over the stock piece. But im wondering if i would get any extra noise with one on a stock air box over the stock unit.

Omiotek 05-19-2015 02:28 PM

It's not louder

Oh... With the stock air box ? Or at all. Even with an intake ?

Snail_SS 05-19-2015 02:34 PM

For me all it did was change the sound and got a tad louder with intake

northvibe 05-19-2015 02:35 PM

I have it on mine...it is louder when the air is diverted back into the intake. and I bought mine at mpx for both my LNF and ford escape.

Umm, am I missing something here?

I thought there was an emissions compliance sticker that you could get with your K&N SRI to legally run it in CA?
I remember all the lead up to the K&N being released, and seeing the emissions compliance sticker that K&N offered for CA customers.

This made me chuckle, it's probably hte most common "mod";
I never bought one because it doesn't do a single thing for power, and I have read of more people having issues with them that not...

You'll really want an intake if you want the car to be a bit louder. I hated the stock air box. This car was meant to have an intake. I think all turbo performance cars need one.

I haven't seen those stickers. Maybe they offered it, but CA being a bitch made them stop? I don't know.

GenuineSaab.com
thats were i got mine it was cheaper, install with the opening on the BPV facing down and clean/grease it with high temp grease every oil change.

Snail_SS 05-19-2015 09:21 PM

That reminds me i need to relube mine when i get my car back. Probably clean the filter again

I have a k&n sri. I just dont have it installed righ now. Due to scewed fuel trims. No tuners around my area at all. I was just looking for a little extra noise from the stocknair box. But i gather that wont happen with the stock box and a forge ? Or will it ? Some say yes in here. And some say no ? Im confused. Lol... Some said it was for reliablity. And then the next post someone said more people had problems with the forge then not!! Idk what to think now. Lol

Snail_SS 05-19-2015 09:36 PM

With stock airbox you wont get a difference. With intake the forge like i said its more of a sound change and a tad almost nothing louder and yes its more reliable. And i haven't had a problem only needed a lube twice and thats about it

09outlander 05-20-2015 11:24 PM

I just put a Forge BPV in my car, it's actually a little quieter then the stock BPV.

Something isn't right then.

Just install he Sri and read the k&n Sri thread I think cudajoe started. Many members tested the intake at what rotation of the filter provided best fuel trims. Also install the bpv while the intake is off. Why wait? I only have gms1 with those two installed and don't have issues

metroplex 07-18-2019 06:05 PM

Does anyone remember where to face the opening/port on the aftermarket BPV?
