help!!!!!

I got an 08 lnf and I was at the track threw it in second backfired really bad then started smoking and sounding like a subaru when I checked under my hood the line from the valve cover to my catch can came out and a lot of oil shot out threw there so I put it back it and refilled it with oil. So I got the car towed home and I waited till the next day to start it and I'm only throwing one code which is for p0107 for the map but it sounds like a subaru and smoke and ideas??

Blown piston ringlands. Do a compression test.

Might be a blown turbo but I doubt it with the Subie soundtrack. Excessive piston ring blowby & boost popped the line off.

Yea that's what I figured that it was the pistons but I thought it would atleast throw a code for the missfires.

I have read of a rare case where an over revved engine popped a bunch of cam followers and wedged a few valves open causing excessive blowby like you describe. Either way it's prob going to be a lot of work.

Skullz666,

I'm sorry that your Cobalt is not doing so well right now! I'm not sure what approach you're planning on taking with it, but if you decide to work with a dealership on getting things resolved please let me know as I'm happy to be of whatever assistance I can be!

Going to have to agree on the ringlands theory... all it will take is a compression test.
Oh, and watch out for the spies!

where were your RPM's when you shifted? Same thing (kinda) happened to another member on CSS.net and turns out it was all in the head. Just needed some replacement parts and a little bit of work. I would still do a compression test just for piece of mind.

same thing happened to mine...i rocker arm came loose and took the rest with it including the exhaust cam.... that didnt create any sort of misfire or smoke though, it just ticked really loud, still ran fine oddly enough.

Check your coolant level as well. Its very possible your block cracked.

Subie sound is usually just rockers flying off and lying around in the head.. BUT.. you have smoke n **** too.. I'd guess you missed your shift, over-revved.. blew at least 1 rocker arm off and as others have said, possibly blown a ringland, or cracked head gasket or something along those lines..
At any rate.. good luck with it, and if you're going to fix it.. build it stronger! The valve springs are weak in these cars, so as long as your block's not fubar, why not get a good zzp head like I did? :P It's a bit costly, but if you're gonna do it, may as well do it right. I hope your block's fine.. but it's all just speculation right now.
