K04r turbo
Who here has a k04r. Im looking to replace my turbo, not looking to push much more boost, but what the max boost a k04r can make and what can it reasonably handle?

K04 for sale
Ive got a rebuilt k04 laying around. With boost control solenoid if you need. Also manual boost controller if you roll that way.

says who?
I have a K04r. Mine will be about 2 years old now with say 15k miles. I managed to pick up 40whp by switching form the k04 to the k04r and goign form 91 to 93 octane. I dyno'd at 300 whp stock turbo on 91 (but running 93 at the time since there was no 91) ZZP stage 1 tune (no dataloging). I dyno'd at 340whp and 350ish tq with the K04r on 93 ZZP tuned (about 23 psi) after datalogging and getting the tune dialed in. I was running 91 because that's the best they offer in California where I was stationed. I moved back to VA in 2017, and I dyno'd with the stock turbo at FastTech Motorsports in TN at the Tail of the Dragon Meet that year, which was the same meet I won the raffle for the K04r. I Dyno'd at the same shop the following year at the TOTD meet, and was happy with numbers. The swap is simple, simple bolt on, easy day. The price isn't too bad if you are looking for a little bit more then stock turbo can do. If i didn't with the K04r I probably would have swapped to the ZFR. I'm looking to go that route soon.
