Bunch of candy asses on this site. Drive the damn car! Got mine last year and put about 40k on it. Almost 83k on the clock now. Had a heart transplant around 55- 57k... bad block kept burning coolant... Replaced front rotors... RR TPMS is bad. Sucks that the rear caliper issue is known, and there wasn't a ******* recall. I'm still riding w no rear brakes/ emergency brake. Been doing so for about 2 months. Good ******* recall check GM!!

im only at 43k got the car with 7k on it in October 2010, had a few trips on it to O.C. and Harrisburg, Pa daily driven... In winter I DRIVE IT right I dont let my car sit around all winter its only a cobalt she has a set of winter 17" winter wheels and snow tires for that does good too.. especially since we live on a bunch of hills first issues noticed with mine were rear rotors scored badly at 7500 then a FAULTY p0101 code being thrown 20k wiring to the maf was bad, then it threw it again few months later. Key stuck in the ignition one day leaving work 24k... recall fixed... Steering recall fixed as well along with the charge pipe recall. then parking brake needed adjusted oddly,(brakes weren't working on a hill with the parking brake up) 36k fixed. other than those few issues id say my car has been great. and no im not running any custom tunes. cars basically bolted with a canned tune.

Glad to hear that aside from the few concerns you mentioned (which I understand are resolved as of now, correct?) you're loving your Cobalt! Let me know if there's ever anything I can check into for you.

over a year later. talk about thread revival o well my SS/TC sedan has 65k on it and only thing i have had it in the shop for was the damn ignition lock and fuel odors both of witch were covered under recall but had the car since 44k and never had a problem, just change the oil and NLS like a boss all the time and everythings great

There have been a few lemons, some 09s had porous block issue. Motor replaced under warranty. Other than that just miner stuff most every car deals with. I think most people get rid of them so soon is cause they beat on them, get bored and want something new. Crazy I think, those are usually people that will always have debt. I personally am driving this car into the ground. Only major issue I had is porous block and then wrecked another motor by using the wrong oil. It was royal purple that was not 4718 certified . Think that the certification anyway. And now my plastic radiator mounts broke so I got all aluminum rad

I'm at 80k. So far the only real repair job I've had is the rear o2 sensor harness. It got corroded somehow and caused the sensor to malfunction, and as such I could not pass emissions. Other than that just usual maintenance - brakes, oil, and just did my front suspension bushings and end links as it was getting a little noisy. Like the other Tom, I plan to drive this guy for a while. I tend to enjoy not having a car payment.

I bought my car with 17 miles on it.. its a 2008 SS, The only issues I have really had with it were brake/suspension related. Shocks/Struts needing replacing and the Pads/Rotors needing replacing.. normal maintenance stuff.. But my front calipers has some major issues.. that could have been avoided if I did regular maintenance to them (greasing pins and changing pads more often) my pins seized up and had to be drilled out and it caused a lot of headaches... other than that.. my car is till going strong.. did I mention my car has almost 100k on it now?

no, a bad grinding noise when making a left turn and then when it straightens out it goes away.

Told either wheel bearing/hub or Axle. Got axles in my garage but finally got around to ordering the hub

I have just over 72k on my ss and my fist real problem surfaced. Cylinder 1 & 2 and multiple misfire codes being thrown getting new plugs to see if that will resolve the issue but this car has been a champ. I bought it used from a dealer with one previous owner.

Try new plugs, but there is that good chance that the valves are gunked up.

Please check your sway bar end links before you replace your hubs. I got the grinding sound making right turns and this fixed it. Or, if you're going to replace the axles and hubs anyway, spend an extra 50 bucks on a pair of Moog end links and swap them out while you're in there. Once I removed my stock ones I could hear nasty sounds from them just by rotating the bolts. They were so done.

83K now.. 2009 SS.. power steering failed with less than 10K, ebrake failed and rear brakes failed twice under 30K. Both headlights filled up like a fish tank and had to be replaced at 70k. Radio shorts out in cold weather, and just the other day I went to go do an oil change and noticed I have an oil leak coming somewhere from the top of the engine. AND still 2 years left to pay on it.

I have a '09 SS with 80k and it's still running great. No problems aside from svc sensors.

09 112k with zfr....just intermittent no data available on AFR....i think its open loop related idk

Headlights is a normal chevy issue. You might try the valve cover gasket, they seem to leak from there, its a 20ish dollar part most dealers stock them quick replacement job too

The most common I thought was near the high pressure fuel pump.

I would imagine like most vehicles it will last you as long as you want it to if you give it the proper maintenance and TLC that the vehicle needs.

Forgot to mention I have had both of my headlights replaced under warranty due to condensation issues. That was long ago though and both are still crystal clear today.
