Inside Hood Liner

Any benefits of having it?

Does it make the cabin quieter?

Does it increase the temp in the engine bay?

I've come to realize that the cars that I have had that don't have one, all have one thing in common and that is after a few years the paint on the hood gets little tiny cracks. I didn't put it together until my current car which i bought new. The rest of the paint is beautiful but the hood just has these tiny cracks mainly in the center of the hood that you will only see if you are right on top of it.

If you want to get rid of some of the ticking noise coming from the fuel pump under the hood you can get one of these insulators.

that the thing how much will it increase?

I'm thinking it wouldn't be that bad in Canada.. our summers aren't super hot... and in the winter time it will help keep the heat in more? maybe?

and maybe keep things quieter when just wanting to cruise?

hoodliners meant to keep the heat out well maybe not out but suppress it. if you live in canada i dont see much use for it except for what one guy said your hood will have little chips of paint missing.

We had this discussion before once, from what I can remember we all agreed that GM didn't do it because the ss/tc puts out more heat under the hood than the ss/sc. GM probably had one during the testing and R&D and lol probably the hood liner burned itself right off under the hood.

The fuel pump is in the gas tank.

The high pressure one is under the hood, and that insulator covers it up and silences it.

The hood insulator's main purpose is to keep the heat down on the hood.

Its a sound insulator, putting one in wont increase the temps by any noticeable amount. The real reason it was left out is because there is not enough clearance under the hood for one. The charge piping almost touches the hood as it is - there isn't enough room for an insulator in addition.
