So has anyone tried the short shifter as well

I wonder what it's like with both.

Maybe i should drop it off some day and try it out.

Seems like TWM doesn't have a bushing kit for Cobalts yet.

I wouldn't say it's a major change but it does make a difference. It really is hard to describe. It firms up the whole shifter assembly from wobbling around every time you change gears, and it just makes everything seem firmer/tighter more precise. For $20 and 15min of work you might as well give it a shot.

it takes the shifter and moves the way it engages on the bottom.

Here is a very crappy paint drawing of the stock shifter on left vs say a TWM or Hurst on the right. Aftermarket is straight with a ball on the bottom. Stock is bent at bottom and connects on the side

It looks like the genuine saab short shifter replaces the lattitudinal connector to the cables so that the throw is shortened.

Yes That was me I posted in the other thread once I installed both the bushings and the short throw works great took about 40 mins tops to do, The difference with both is amazing really shortens the throw up and simple to do just cut the side part off at a certain length put the new straight part on, a set screw and some loctite provided even though its a real tight fit wouldn't come off even w/o a set screw, turn the connector from the side to the ball now on the bottom instead of the right side. Keeps the stock shifter and doesn't burn ya in the summer with a metal shift knob, You can also add a different leather knob if ya like to the stock shifter.

This is what is cut off.

pull the rubber stock bushings out of the shifter base, put the new bushings on the studs the base sits on, reinstall the base, put the washer on top, then bolt it all back down. Done.

So has anyone else tried their STS?

I'm not sure if this will hurt or help me. That is did you guys say it relocates the the longitudinal connector? My problem was once already I have cracked the bushing that connects the shifter to the forward and backward connector of the shift linkage. So i'm wondering if this might help me?

Any suggestions?
