I'm sure I'm not the first person to have this problem but I couldn't find a thread on this. I drive a 09 SS and recently I bent the bottom right corner of my stock IC. I took it to the Chevy dealer to get it looked at and they're telling me I need to have it replaced. The dent in my IC is not HUGE but the water collector underneath my IC is hanging by the bolt on the left. I did a little quick fix and used metal wires to tie it up so its not hanging and scraping on the ground. Its been about 2 weeks since I've dented my IC, and I haven't had any kind of problems with it at all. My engine temp is still under 190 and I'm still putting out around 15 pounds. My question is should I get an after market IC or stick with the stock IC. I still have my 5 year/50,000 mile warranty. But most IC incidents aren't factory defects. So back to the question, After market or OEM?

aftermarket is always a good upgrade but do you really need it if you ahve just a couple bolt ons? not really. biggest downfall to the stock intercooler is the crap end tanks.

I know, thats what broke the plastic end tanks. or at least the piece to hold the water collector.

Aftermarket, the OEM one will be more expensive and not as good. I would try to wait for ZZP to come out with their IC, because they have done there homework and it wont be expensive at all. It should be out in early July.

Yea I've been looking into a lot of after market IC. I haven't found man though I mean ZZP's Hahn's and then Stock. supposedly MPx has one but I haven't heard much about it or seen pics of it. I've been reading a lot into ZZp's IC and it seems like it's definitely the best one out there so far. I'm just waiting on the specs for it. Hahn's seems like another good one but I'm not trying to pay the price if I can get a better one for A LOT cheaper.

If there are any other IC's that I don't know about I would appreciate someone telling me about them I wanna read up on them all and figure out which is the best.

If you don't have a boost leak, unscrew the moisture collector and fill the holes with JB Weld.

The price that GM would charge you the stock IC isn't worth it I would honestly wait for zzp's IC to come out, best looking one by far

The price for zzp's IC, you can't beat it. Just wait untill July and you wont regret it

^this. No need to waste a bunch of money when you can spend a few dollars to fix a little hole. I had a golf ball sized hole in my end tank. I plugged it. 1 year and 24psi of boost later its still holding strong...

plug it and wait for a vender to have a sale on intercoolers then pick one up.
