K&N typhoon installed!!!
yesterday i had GMS1 put in and it started raining when i left the dealership
so today on my way home from work i got to feel the power difference from stock and then to GMS1! WOW,much improved!! so i get home from work today and go up to my room and finally after staring at the K&N SRI box for the last 3 months im like '**** yea, lets do this!' to my dog lol
install was super easy aside from the fact that half way through my dad came into the garage and scared the **** out of my and i dropped my socket lol so it took my about 5 minutes to find that!
the real bitch about the install was taking the stock intake hose off. since GM place the hose clamp on it with the nut facing damn near the fire wall and on a hot car, wasnt so fun but i had a radio, pack of smokes so i took my sweet ass time. the install of the intake was super easy.
i reconnect the battery and tripple check everything, make sure when i close the hood the filter dont hit the hood. im ready. **** yea.
so i take it out for a test drive,go through 1st gear casually as i would. then i hit second gear and the turbo spooled up so fast and then i push in the clutch and the noise that came from the engine compartment scared the **** out of me!!! the BPV is SOOOO MUCH LOUDER! ive watched youtube videos and what not and read reviews and knew it was louder but WOW i really wasnt expecting that! absolutly love it!!
when i put the filter on everyone said at the end of the filter where the Chrome end plate is,theres a K&N logo in the Chrome end plate. the K&N should be upside down right??
i fired the car up after the install and it was kind of hunting for a steady idle. up 100RPM and down 100RPM.

Yes, upside down. When it's right side up on my car it will throw a CEL. Upside down I have no such issues.

and other people have said you wont be able to keep your foot out of it when you install the K&N....well its damn true!
I just finished mine but used my injen(amsoil) filter with the forge bpv. What a sound. Still a little bit of surging and a little bit of a funky idle but overall a big improvement over that stupid injen...... Ohh by the way, anybody want to buy an injen intake lol.
i cant believe the sound from the K&N. i drove a friends SS/TC with a bunch of mods and a Injen CAI and it wasnt as loud as this!
gasmilage is definatly going to go to **** lol wooooshh

When I first put mine on I got an immediate CEL
Texted Joe 07 - Hey Joe I got a CEL with the new K+N WTF?
joe: Bro, turn the filter upside down
me: 0.o?
Sure enough, fixed the CEL, never got another one.

definatly will miss doin 70MPH and sitting at 10-15 VAC lol with the new K&N it sits at 10-6 VAC while cruising at 70MPH
I going to guess your slight idle blips might be due to the little oil residue on the filter getting on the MAF. Ignore it, eventually the excess oil will go away and the car will be fine. You can clean the MAF if ya want but unless your throwing a CEL I wouldnt bother.
yea, maybe in a cuple days of driving with the new intake ill pull the MAF sensor and check it and see how it looks. it didnt hunt for an idle this morning when i let it idle for a couple minutes this morning
I installed my Typhoon a little over a week ago and for the most part I love mine as well. The only thing I don't like is that when I hit the clutch at high boost in addition to the pppshshsssssshhhh sound it will make a rough grunting noise. From what I've read it sounds like it's just the bpv. What is yall's experience with this?

Finally getting my stage kit installed on Saturday. Will be looking for an intake I think. Seems like this one is pretty nice so might have to pick one up. Is it unnecessary to get a hydro shield for this?
If you get the SRI you're fine. The only time you'd need a hydro filter is with a CAI. The Typhoon SRI has the filter located near the hood of the car and theres no snorkel or anything like that. It draws in air directly around the filter.
the K&N was so easy to install and judging from my buddies SS/TC i think the K&N makes the BPV louder vs. an injen.

You don't need a hydro shield. the K+N is well up out of reach of rain or what not and it has a shield. I have the forge BPV. Sounds just like the stock one, made no difference in sound with the K+N.
