Looking for info on LNF

So now that we know that the LNF is going in the new cobalt, I started looking around on Solstice\Sky forums to see what available mods there are for it. I can't seem to find anything major. Does anyone know what the potential is for that engine?

I was wondering the same thing. I've been doing a little searching and can't seem to come up with anything either.

If you want to get alot more out of it, a turbo swap is in order. The OEM turbo is basically maxxed out from the factory.

Its so Hush Hush because when one of us pull up to a honda in a LNF powered cobalt ss the honda guys will think its supercharged untill we kick thier A$$ and laugh at them for havin a torqueless car

the LNF engine makes 260 Hp at the crank and 260 torque.

is there any proof of these numbers tho? like real legitimate proof? or are we basing these numbers from the hhr ss because if so, it will NOT be the same. difference weight transmission and everything is just different pretty much. its a different car.

When we went down to Byron last sunday there was a solstice that ran a 12something 1/4. Then on the second run, he lined up, broke something and bled on the ******* track...

I agree! The SS/SC can be modded to be up there at 260. and it don't take much.

However I love this motor and all the info I had learned about it in the short time I was looking. I am very interested in a possible motor swap!

And I think any1 looking to Twincharge could do so better on this LNF motor.

the ss/sc makes about 260 at the crank, thats whats funny...I mean the only reason anyone should want this car is if the aftermarket comes out like the dodge did for the srt 4 neon, thats when chevy will start making some money...Till they realize this their still making a mistake

I know that may sound dumb but isnt the 205 at the wheels?

Does anyone know if the exhaust manifold off the LNF will fit the LSJ?

that depends on who/what your asking. GM said it had 205hp. Most ppl are dynoing at 22X.xx at the wheels. so that would be like 240ish to the crank. But if you go by GM's #'s, 205hp would be like 225 at the crank (I think)

The LNF engine in the sky redline, solstice gxp, and hhr SS all put out 260 on both ends, I don't see why they'd make it any different for the cobalt. The weight to horsepower ratio may be different, but the HP will be made the same.

You also forget that when GM says 260hp and 260lb-ft, that they mean to the crank, so you'll have your crank loss. But lets hope GM underrated it again.

That is what GM says it is at, but people dyno between 213-222 mostly, so its obviously more. We get 200wtq to I think. So we have more to the wheels since GM rates it at 200crank tq.

GM rates the cobalt at 205hp 200lb-ft (both of those are to the crank, so we should have less wheel horsepower. But we all know this to not be true).

The exhaust manifold probably will, but like said, the stock tc is maxed out like CRAZY. Its running at like 20psi, but its making lots of power.

When GM or any car manufacturer makes a car, and says it has X amount of horsepower, they mean to the crank. So when Gm says we make 205bhp, that means we should be making between 18X-19X to the wheels.

Can't Supercharged cobalts destroy hondas? You act as if the LNF cobalt will be a god send. It most likely won't and will only be a little more powerful than the LSJ cobalt.

Yea, but most ppl pn here (like me) were dynoing on a dyno jet at like 227 to the wheels. Alot of ppl on Mustang dynos were at like 210-215 to the wheels. Which would mean GM under rated it.

Or sum 1 with the LNF could maybe throw the M62 on it and get to where your going the other way. Either way, I wanna see a good/reliable twin charge.
