New SS/TC cranking, won't start!!!
#26
Just a guess, crank sensor or fuel pump. Codes P0442, P0449 I believe are Emission related and I don't think that would keep the car from starting, good luck and let us know what you find out.

Screw making all these new high tech engines...chevy should just make 2 engines...ls1 and ls2...ok maybe 3, ls7 as well...and just drop those engines in every car they have...ls1's in the small compacts, ls2's in the medium sized cars, and ls7's in the suv's/trucks and sports cars

Oh how funny it would be if the stealership called him and said: "Sir, we have found the problem, must be you were having so much fun in your new Turbo cobalt that you forgot to fill the tank with more gas. You have 400 miles on the original tank of gas that we supply"

Wow, thanks for making me laugh guys! I love the poster! And the "Should Start"! And yes, the battery's ok and it does have a (nearly full) tank of gas.
The flatbed just came and picked it up. The driver even tried to start it several times and he listened for the electric fuel pump while I cranked it. Sounded ok I guess. Not much clearance to get it up on the bed, but it made it.
I'll be sure to keep you posted on whatever I find out... hopefully real soon!

Sure do hope its just a simple quicky fix. I might be in Buffalo next weekend for a day visiting my uncle. If you get it back we should meet up so I can check it out in person. I would love to see a TC cobalt in person.
P.S. - Now you can add to your sig: "First official member to have a faulty SS/TC"

Watch them not honor hsi warranty now and say "It's because he was racing it".
Then when he tries to deny it they ask if he has ever floored it, to which you can't honestly say no, and then they say "Well there you go, that's your problem. These cars aren't meant to do that."

Seriously.......we own a car that is MASS produced. Do you or anyone on here honestly think that there is going to be not one car with problems? It is bound to happen, and always will happen. There is no way for the factory to produce cars without problems. I owned a Toyota, known for being the most reliable cars on the planet. And I had lots of problems with it. I have had my Cobalt for over a year and have had ZERO problems.
So to say that it is GM's fault for making a crap car is well......CRAP.

Stuff Happens.
And the clutch went bad at 5k, but the dealer replaced it under warranty.
Stuff Happens.
ALL cars have problems relating to certain models.
Stuff Happens.
Fact is, the SS/T is still a great car and a year from now people will be talking about what an awesome car it is.
And rightly so ...

A simmilar thing happend to me on the same day I drove my brand new 96 Z24 home from the dealor.
I got in, turned the key and NOTHING. What a terrible feeling. After fumbling around in PANIC MODE for about 30 minutes I finally figured out what it was. It was a very cold cold winter day, and what had happened was the clutch sensor switch had frozen closed, so that the starter wouldn't engage even with the clutch pedal depressed. A few whacks on the switch and it was fixed.
