It's amazing how quick everyone is to hate on their own cars.

Same team boys, I cannot fathom why you guys hate the TC guys so much.

i don't, it is the fact that some people hype the crap out of it only to come back to the realization of "uh, i can't do anything!" give it 6 months. there will be stuff out for the car, but it won't do anyone any good untill someone gets past the magical 260ftlb barrier in the ecm.

Seriously.......we own a car that is MASS produced. Do you or anyone on here honestly think that there is going to be not one car with problems? It is bound to happen, and always will happen. There is no way for the factory to produce cars without problems. I owned a Toyota, known for being the most reliable cars on the planet. And I had lots of problems with it. I have had my Cobalt for over a year and have had ZERO problems.

So to say that it is GM's fault for making a crap car is well......CRAP.
I think the SS/TC and SS/SC are awesome cars. I love mine. I just can't believe that just because our cars are domestic that they will automatically be cursed with shitty resale value. Then my fiance buys an 04 GTI and I sit in it and i'm like WTF?! This car is beautifully engineered. Why can't we (america) do this? By no means am i saying import is better than domestic. I like my torque. I'd just like to be able to pay 23,000 for a car and 2 years later have it be worth a little more than 15. I see 06 Si's still selling for 20.

When HPT comes out this car will destroy whatever it wants.

A tune and a cat-less 3" exhaust and its game over.

I got nothing against the new SS. I think it's a step in the right direction.

Possibly.

Don't know how the flame will react with the aqua due to the oddly dished DI pistons.

Never seen a test in person so can't comment on it.

Hmmm, good question. I've seen them on Ford cars, but I don't know if the Cobalt has one or not. I learned about them when a friend's Escort stopped running immediately after hitting a huge pothole. Thanks for the suggestion!

I concur. I've had my car for 1 year and 15,000 miles and it squeaks and rattles like crazy going down the road. It just feels "cheap." And the resale is a joke, MSRP of 24,095 i'd be lucky to get 17 for it now.

Honestly what did you expect for $24K?? A fit and finish like a Lexus or Mercedes? These cars are going to have squeaks, rattles, etc. Also, if you happen to have a decent aftermarket stereo you are going to promote squeaks and rattles.

Did you not know when you bought the car that the resale is not going to be that good? It is considered a "cookie cutter" car, just like a Honda Civic, or Dodge Neon.

I've got 35,000 miles on my SC and she's good, except for the freaking drivers door handle....

but I bought a 96 GTI w/ 125,000 to commute with and it's rattle free and solid as a brick

to the OP > good luck w/ your TC.... I'm sure it will work out.... sport compact magazine gave the TC a killer write up last month

I know that GM does it, just wasn't sure if Cobalts had the feature. I know Blazers do.

My advice on GM squeaks: If you don't like squeaks, then do not armor all the inside of your car.

Yeah except the honda has exceptional resale value all because its a foreign car. Like someone here said the 06's are still going for around 20k. An 06 S/C you'd be lucky to get 15 for it.. It's understandable for the car not to be made out of solid gold for 24k but GM can do better..

could be a bad cam sensor, or crank sensor for that matter. if there is no signal out of one, it could cause that.
