One thing GM really needed to do...
i dunno what u guys want a six speed for u think u have to shift lots now while city driving take a 6 speed for a spin and see how you like it, not being an ass or anything I just would rather keep the shifting to a minimum.

All you need.
even though i ended up buying an RSX-S... i'm excited for the SS/TC... heck, i was excited for the SS/SC.
from what i've read, it seems like the TC takes everything good about the SC and improved on it.
a 6 speed is nice, but again, the reason why Civic Si's and RSX-S-es have 6-speeds is because each shift only drops the tach about 1500rpms... so those cars need that to allow them to stay in their powerband. with a torque curve as flat as the LNF engine has, a properly geared 5-speed is perfect. i think i remember reading something in some review of the SS/SC; the author had stated that the SS/SC's transmission seemed like it would be happier in a turbocharged car... so there you go!
i wonder what class the SCCA will be putting the SS/TC in for AutoX. i can't wait to see how they perform in AutoX.
other than that, i would have loved to have seen the rear glass of the car lift up, like in the RSX... it would still keep the lines of the coupe, but would add so much more functionality to the car by giving it a bigger trunk opening. if an SS/SC had a liftback, i would have gotten it over the RSX.

The Cobalt SS/SC already gets 20/28 mpg with the new revised ratings while the Solstice GXP gets 19/28 with the new ratings. The Solstice weighs more, is RWD, and has a massive coefficient of drag. Negating all 3 with the Cobalt SS/TC should give a even higher fuel economy score while offering even more power than the previous SS/SC and still eb bale to run 87 octane if needed thanks to the DI.
8:22. Yeah....They went real cheap on it. I mean, only beating the Sports-Compact FWD by record by 13 seconds. WTF GM? How about you try next time?
My Nissian Sentra SE-R Spev V NEEDS a 6th gear. My Cobalt does not. I imange that more torque from the LNF would make it even less noticable. (not that I would be against a 6speed.)
The SS/TC has better brakes and suspension than the SS/SC. So they did a little bit more than dropping in a differnet powerplant. Also there is the No-lift shifting. Which will be nice.
I kinda like the rims better than the SS/SCs too. But Im not really a big fan of either of them. Unless ofcourse, the SS/TC has lighter rims.

and i pointed out that i was hoping they'd make LSD standard a few days ago..it's kind of stupid to not make it standard....kind of like no side airbags or ******* ABS ON A 2007 COBALT LT! THEN you reearend some old bitch that pulls out in front of you!
******* GM. GOtta love em.
lol
rofl. how about a duece turbo with a single supercharger..what the hell would you call that?

emmissions failed with the lsj... so they threw the solstice gxp/sky redline powerplant into it and made a few changes so everything suspension/stopping wise would be up to par with the new powerplant.
afaik they just took the regular ss/sc tranny and changed the gearing around(if they even did that).
They aren't building this car to be a top performer. They have the upcomming camaro, solstice/sky, corvette, etc. for that. They are building it to be a cheap tuner car. CHEAP. I'm sure they thought long and hard about adding those things to the car, but it just didn't fall into the price range they wanted to sell them at.

awd would mean huge sale drops for gm. gm can't compete with the sti/evo in that specific market...no american car company could just barge in there and take those two cars on directly, they would get dominated. Subaru and mitsubishi OWN that market. a 6-speed wouldn't necessarily push up the cost too much, but they could bump up the price more if they wanted to.
but he is totaly rite..
AWD would push the price up + why do people want awd soo bad? if u want awd go buy a awd car lol...its fwd for a reason..primarly good handeling (so does awd) and because if they switchd it to awd just for the ss that means they would have to produce it in another plant costing LOTS OF MONEY notice why the price of a evo is soo much more then a ralliart...
are you talking about the time attack cobalt? I dont know why people still find that so rediculosuly impressive, it was a factory backed, purpose built race car, of course its gonna be fast. Gimme a mazdaspeed protege and the amount of money they dropped in that balt and it'll smoke that record. woohoo.

Just to give you an idea on how it did:
7:11 - McLaren F1 (GTR?), Mika Hakkinen, [2] (* not an official source)
7:12 - BMW M3 GTR ( driven by Hans Joachim Stuck )
7:12 - Radical SR3 Turbo, 320 PS/500 kg (test drive 07/03)
8:13 - BMW M5 E60, 507 PS (sport auto 12/04)
8:13 - Ferrari 355 GTB (Sport Auto 10/1994)
8:17 - Porsche 996 C2 [citation needed]
8:22 - Chevy Cobalt SS 2008 2.0 Turbo (Source GM)
8:22 - Nissan Skyline GT-R R32, 280 PS/36 kgfˇm/1430 kg, Motoharu Kurosawa (Best Motoring - Video Special DVD Series [The R32 GT-R])
8:22 - BMW M3 E46, 343 PS/1584 kg (sport auto 12/00)
8:22 - BMW M Coupe E36/7, 321 PS/1445 kg (sport auto 10/98)
8:22 - Mercedes CLK 63 AMG (fastest AMG test engineer)
8:24 - Subaru Impreza WRX STI, sport tires (Sport Auto 05/04)
8:25 - Jaguar XKR (Sport Auto)
8:25 - Porsche Cayman S (Sport Auto)
8:38 - Honda NSX (sport auto, 08/97)
8:39 - MazdaSpeed 3 Mark Ticehurst
8:39 - Honda S2000 (sport auto 01/00)
Nurburgring is how production track cars are measured. I've walked my buddy's Mazdaspeed protege a few times. Never had it in the twisties. But im sure It wouldnt be able to keep up with the SS/TC 8:22 without a lot of work.
And snice everyone wants to compare the $21,590.00 FWD car to a $28987 dollar car AWD car (base prices for both.)
8:11 - Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX GSR prototype, 280 PS/40.8 kgfˇm/1420 kg, Takayuki Kinoshita (Best Motoring International video "Carrera Invasion")
8:24 - Mitsubishi Charisma GT Evo VI, sport tires (Sport Auto 11/99)
8:25 - Mitsubishi Charisma GT Evo VII, sport tires (Sport Auto 11/02)
Because it would have made the car .2 tenths faster in the quarter mile.
This is ALL GM had to do and the car would have been golden....

Functioning SS Hood
Projector lights
Diamond Mesh ALL AROUND

Lower grille standard
Duals (if the GXP and the RedLine have them...)

And last but not least... Fix the damn sunroof button bezel!!
Mine still falls out...
