only 17 psi

After tune car made 21 psi but now the gauge only shows 17 psi. Im hp tuned and in the scanner the map reads 255 kpa at wot ?

Check for boost leak

C0balts5 04-07-2019 07:19 PM

Stock intercooler?

Cobalt4209 04-07-2019 10:10 PM

When i log it shows 255 kpa or 22 psi with boost pid setup. Im wondering if my gauge is messed up. Its not the stock intercooler its a Yonaka 21x9x3"

Which sensor are you using for your boost pid?

Cobalt4209 04-08-2019 06:46 PM

manifold absolute pressure [50030.98]

Cobalt4209 04-08-2019 10:40 PM

My gauge reads -20 kpa with the key in the on positon . I am pretty sure it should read 0 , That would explain why im reading low boost lol

C0balts5 04-09-2019 06:21 AM

It will hold some vacuum after you shut the car off for a lil bit

Cobalt4209 04-09-2019 11:35 AM

Its always at -20 kpa with key on seems to be the spot it resets to.

Installed an amazon boost gauge and now its reading 26 psi lolol. What a cheap Pos , ill leave it for now i gotta replace tie rods and e-brake cable then i will buy a proper gauge..
I Know its reading 22 psi on hp tuners , I just wish it didn't max out at 22 , with the gms1 3bar map sensors why doesn't hp tuners read higher ?

Slowbalt2000 04-11-2019 03:50 PM

Try to find a different pid or make your own using MAP voltage.

ECaulk 04-11-2019 05:03 PM

Make sure the sensor is correct. Then try this math for the boost : [2338.98]-14.7

It uses the lower map sensor which has a higher range than the one in the intake manifold. Also make sure it's in PSI as the 14.7 is the sea level atmosphere pressure.

Where did you tap in for the amazon gauge?

Cobalt4209 04-11-2019 09:02 PM

tapped the line going from manifold to boost solenoid i don"t have the bpv solenoid hooked up. WHen i use [2338.98] it doesnt read anything ?

ECaulk 04-12-2019 06:02 AM

Add Lo Res Map to you channels. You should be looking at the boost pre and post throttle body, as the LNF uses the throttle plate for some aspects of boost control.

Cobalt4209 04-12-2019 10:11 AM

ok will do thanks

Cobalt4209 04-21-2019 11:22 PM

Ok so my gauge is right it's running 26 psi I setup the low res boost pid and it shows 26 psi as well. Could that be from the Watergate rod I tightened up to much ? cause my stock gauge was only reading 17 psi which turned out to be broken

C0balts5 04-22-2019 08:31 PM

I've personally never messed with the wastegate rod settings. If you were adjusting it to see if it changed the psi settings and then you found out it was a broken gauge, I would put it back to where it was and recheck now that you have the proper gauge operation. Makes me wonder if my gauge isn't messed up too. Supposedly my car is "suppose " to be tuned on 23 psi, but it only ever reads 21-22 after it boost spikes past 25psi for a brief second and I can hear the Wastegate flutter. Been like that for 5 years

Cobalt4209 04-22-2019 08:45 PM

Alright I'll post an update after I adjust it . Grab an aftermarket gauge just be careful where you route the hose mine melted from the upper charge pipe lol.

C0balts5 04-22-2019 09:01 PM

Eventually I will mess with it, it only sits in the driveway and gets driven maybe once or twice a month if its lucky. It's no longer in commission as my daily

Cobalt4209 05-05-2019 12:05 PM

everything is good now that i adjusted the wastegate actuator . Its takes a few tries to get it adjusted proper.
