Original Battery

I am pretty shocked to see that the battery that came with my 2008 is still going strong. Anybody else still on the original?

Well, I want to upgrade my audio system so I figure the better battery should be able to handle it.

I had a yellow top Optima in my Camaro and that one lasted me 12 years. I believe they got bought out by Johnson Controls though and the quality has gone down significantly. Nice to see others have had such good luck with the factory battery as well!

Having the battery in the trunk and not under the hood is what allows them to last a long time.

Heat kills batteries, not cold weather.

I just replaced mine. Felt like it was getting weak and didn't want to get stranded. Original battery from '09. Found out the only cars that use the battery we have is cobalt, HHR, and corvette. $128 from my stealership and I won't have to worry about it for another 10 years.

ACDelco 90PS is the part number

I was in your situation. LDK swap took a month, car sat disconnected. Battery needed help starting, ok. Then it got down to 20F and lights started to look dimmer and cranking seemed a little slower. Figured it's cheap insurance so I don't get stuck somewhere later. Might as well chuck it on a trickle charger or call your stealership to see how much it costs.

My 08 ss is on its original, keep the trickle charger on it when she is put up. The ls is on its second battery, it started getting weak about 3/4 years ago so I played it safe and got a new one.

I will probably go with the same duralast gold I went with on the ls. I found a oversized battery with higher cca that fits in the tray if you cut off the plastic mounting lug on one side of the battery. Works great, I rarely ever drive the ls and don't have a battery tender on it. Never had to jump it off either and it has sit up to 6-7 months a couple times
