Hmmm maybe that's where the gen 3/gen 2 mislabeling comes into play? LDK is a gen 2 motor. I dont know why it gets advertised as gen 3. Everything was exactly 100% the same as the LNF fitment and connectivity wise. No issues with anything not bolting up. Other than the oil level sensor in the pan which we don't have that is.

It's just **** luck. There were no errors made.

1. Are you serious?

2. What's your location if so? (Cant see on mobile)

3. The spark plug tip busted off and it will need a piston which ZZP sells for $150 or so.

I would need to take a close look to see if it's even useable with just a cleanup. I do not have high hopes considering the amount of metal that was bouncing around in there.

I know a few have been following since I joined and it's nice to hear that. I wouldn't wish this rash of **** on my worst enemy. I will have the car ready and will be at the CED meet. Maybe someone will buy me a beer

I'm thinking of stripping it down and selling anything new that's worth anything. The crystal red valve cover will be up for grabs for starters since the complete LDK/LHU whatever has a different shaped cover. Also have some spare gaskets for anyone doing a rebuild.

The LNF block needs two sleeves and pistons. #4 which broke and #1 which is the only one that hasn't been replaced and I wouldn't trust it with my luck.

It's all scrap to me so if there's interest I will post a for sale thread.

I'm not sure what to make of that until you clarify but I will state up front that I am not a gigolo.

im in BC, but i usually ship stuff to the boarder and drive accross to pick it up

buying the block would obviously depend on price and condition :P

Well some good news. My extended warranty company is going to make good on their half of the shortblock as agreed months ago. That puts me up $800 or so. The law of averages is on my side at this point. I can't possibly have another failure with a crate motor.

Question...I have the ZZP canned tune. Idle was 14.7 afr and holding it at 2k rpm trying to burp the coolant I was getting up to 15.3. Same thing cruising at light throttle. Brand new o2 of course. Is that normal? All new gaskets on everything. Gas in the tank was shell 93 from October 10th approximately.

I went with the GMPP clutch and new flywheel. Only thing was the dowell holes on the pressure plate were too big and it took a lot of eyeballing and snugging and tapping to get it perfectly centered.

Bled the clutch in 3 minutes and it felt perfect.

I think i need to bleed mine more. It feels likenit doesnt want to come out when the clutch starts to grab, then when it does it just shoots out. Its a ky stage 3.

ZZP sells an adjuster that allows you to dial in aftermarket clutches. I didn't want any of that so I stuck with OE parts. Did you put in a new clutch pipe? Just curious.

That'd be a 6 puck clutch.

Oh trust me if I could have afforded to have a shop do everything I would have. But the car probably would've caught fire in your shop and burned the place down anyway. The car needs an exorcism.

No headwork was done. Just a simple cleaning and pressure test, new seals like you suggested. If I had to point fingers I'd say the head was not reassembled correctly. The guy has 30+ years experience but all V8 stuff. As for the rest of it, my brother did most of the work and a Cobalt is child's play compared to what he does in his shop.

Piston, what did you do with the oil level sensor on the new oil pan? Did you just leave it as is, unplugged?

well that head isnt rock science to put together. if someone can do v8 heads they are a lot more complex then ecotec heads. especially with 30 years in the business. as long as no machining was done like decking the head you should of been fine.

honestly the car isnt a curse. i just dont think enough attention has been put into it. sorry if thats harsh as thats not my intention but you have been through 3 motors already. all 3 not really being your fault either. the dealership should of flashed the car from the beginning to see what caused the engine to fail. number 2 failed due to that and number 2 failed from probablly not seating a keeper corrrectly or forgetting one.

luckily your not out a lot of money but for someone else this would be a major hole in their wallet.
