Yeah man that's the LDK shortblock piston. Multiple failures in the head. You'd think you could trust a head cleaning from a guy that builds $80k race motors but I guess not.
Looking at the greener grass im better off now. My turbo had some shaft play before we put everything back together last time. Took a look in it yesterday and it's way loose and machining its own path inside the housing. So at least I got a brand new turbo.
My concern now is a trans failure. 30,000 miles but I have no idea how long the previous owner was running that insane E85 tune. It doesn't grind and shifts perfectly so I'm hoping I'm ok for a good long time.

The head is worthless. It even chipped the cams. 3 followers broke off, seals and a spring just hanging out inside there. The block is salvageable if it could be bored .30 or so I'd say but does anyone even make bigger pistons for cobalts?
I have an LNF block too that needs a sleeve and piston on #4. 2 & 3 are new pistons and sleeves, and 1 is original at 130 compression tested so I wouldn't trust it. Not sure if I should just scrap it all or not.
The head guy has been at it for 30 years, personal friend of my Dad's and built all his winning race motors. Hard to know precisely what happened and point the finger at a friend.
Businesses don't like to give away money or replace parts for free. I made the decision a long time ago to buy parts instead of arguing over fault and buying a lawyer. I could have sued the dealership for selling me a car that wasn't setup to run gasoline but the lines between seller and buyer responsibility are a little blurry and not something I'd care to wager on.

No regular driving yet. The PCM has to go back to ZZP to get adjusted for the LDK. There are some differences, like the 14% bigger injectors. A blip of the throttle and she goes to 10.0 afr lol. But I wanted to be able to start it obviously so I held off shipping it out until tomorrow. It's all boxed up and ready to go.

I gave the throttle a quick stab a couple times not even to the floor just to see and my afr would drop to high 9 low 10s. They probably wouldn't ask for my pcm back if they were not larger. I'm freaked out now though because if they trim fuel out thinking they are bigger....

That's what everything I've checked into points to. I looked up some part numbers and diagrams and it all looks to be a match.
I will have to email Matt and get this injector question settled.
6 hours is a very long drive in a car I don't trust. Given the load of crap I've been through would you be comfortable tuning this thing? Chicago is much much closer...
