Okay, recently I noticed in a thread somebody stated that the turbocharger in our cars are NOT covered under the 5yr./100,000mi warranty, but I cant find the thread. This is incorrect, and I just wanted to correct it. I believe the person said it wasnt because "its not part of the sealed engine." According to GM both turbo and superchargers are covered under the Powertrain warranty:

In general, the powertrain warranty covers the engine, transmission, transfer case and axle assemblies on light duty vehicles as indicated below:

• Engine
  Cylinder head, block, timing gears, timing chain, timing cover, oil pump/oil pump housing, OHC carriers, valve covers, oil pan, seals, gaskets, turbocharger, supercharger and all internal lubricated parts as well as manifolds, flywheel, water pump, harmonic balancer and engine mount. Diesel engine coverage includes the timing belts until the first scheduled maintenance interval.
  
• Transmission/Transaxle/Transfer Case
  Case, all internal lubricated parts, torque converter, transfer case, transmission/transaxle mounts, seals, and gaskets.
  
• Drive Systems
  Final drive housing, all internal lubricated parts, axle shafts and bearings, constant velocity joints, axle housing, propeller shafts, universal joints, wheel bearings, locking hubs, front differential actuator, supports, front and rear hub bearings, seals and gaskets.

Just wanted to make sure nobody had bad info about their warranties. Of course this information is all easily accessible at chevrolet.com or your warranty panphlet.

if you notice i believe in that same thread the info you just supplied was posted as well maybe it was a different thread but i have seen that posted before regarding the tc.

 

like I said, I couldnt find the original thread, so if it was already addressed I did not see it.

 

I posted it in the other thead, but it's all good. The more this is mentioned, the better. Definitely important that people know what is and is not covered.

So I guess a clutch assembly is not covered since I don't see it in the description. Thanks for the info though!

 

A clutch is a wear item and typically isn't covered under a warranty.

if its a newish car, it'll praly be replaced.. but as far as the turbo, there was a guy on here who got his turbo replaced like 5 times...

 

Yeah... it is part of the powertrain. I have a friend that just bought a Turbo Baja where the turbo **** on him about 5 hours after he bought it. He's going to take it back to the dealer and use the warranty (3600mi/3mo) that he was given. If the dealer (A shady as hell one) tries to deny him reimbursement on it, he's going to get one of his Lawyer friends to go after him.

 

turbo deff covered i just got mine replaced at 38K along with all 4 injectors and the pcv system. They couldnt figure out why my car burned oil at idle and said it was the injectors at first so i laughed but said ok sure yeah ill take new injectors. It was the PCV system all along but then again they said since the turbo was all covered in oil and suck i got a new one. Sorry for the thread jack

 

supposedly the clutch as a 12k warranty unless of course it was abused.

 

people need to read the warranty books provided in the car or online when they buy a car..... not saying this is bad to have posted. But I've posted this info numerous times in numerous threads.

 

thats for all wearable items including your breaks but they scrutinize the parts like crazy, either way you nobody should be going through a clutch in 12k

It doesn't say Intercooler or charge pipes!!! So if you go in with a botched turbo, if they say that they wont cover it becauses of these parts, you can say they have nothing to do with the actual powertrain warranty. :P

"talked with the quality guys here at work and according to them the intercooler is covered under the GM Powertrain warranty.

The labor op code is: J5773 - Charge Air Cooler Replacement and is listed as P coverage which is for Powertrain warranty."
