quarter mile

2009 cobalt ss
Mods. Hahn intercooler piping, mpx catted downpipe, treadstone intercooler, hahn intake, muffler delete
Side exit exhaust, trifecta tuned @ 22psi.

I took my car too the track for the first time yesterday since everything I've got done and the quarter mile time didn't impress me I ran a 14.1 at 102 mph. Does such a bad time have a lot too do with the fact all I d o is spin 1st and 2nd. And what are usually the average times I should be running if I hooked up.

Too hard to determine how fast you would be when you take the driver out of the equation. If you were cmiller, you would probably be in the low 12s. If you have a 2.4 60 ft time, you need to get some sticky tires and practice.

Need to be easy on that throttle and get better traction. With all my mods and hitting 23psi I did 13.3 as my best time at a track up in Alaska. Minimal spin in 1st gear.

Yeah i was kinda figuring anywhere from low 12s too 13.3 what you said u ran. my 60 foot was 2.183. i have a lot of detonation too close too redline so im sure that was a problem. vince from trifecta said i need to go back too stock spark plugs

for starters like vince said something is off with your car so change the plugs and re log, your trap is extremely too low for what is done to the car.
With those mods:

you should be running low 13s high 12s on street tire.
you need to work on getting down the quarter mile (driver mod)
you should be able to cut a 2.0 60ft

Ya your trap is at stock levels, your 60' time will tell us how you're launching

2.0 60' is VERY hard to do on street tires, ive actually never seen anyone hit a 2.0 but then again i dont really look at others 1/4 times on here very much, ive owned cobalts for 4 years and best i got was a 2.1, couldnt get it consistantly either, and i hit 14.0 with a 2.2 60' with a stock car, so yea def something is WAY off with ur car buddy

it can be done, i have to see where my slips are lol
the thing with racing is consistency, that is were the skill comes in you have to be able to sit behind that wheel and be able to hit the same time over and over again, its that age ole racing rule, if you don't have a back up pass then the time doesn't count. The first time i went out with my car bone stock i only was running a 14.0, it just you get better with time. But the OP needs to first find out whats wrong with his car, its tuned trapping lower than stock

Should trap around 110 with those mods.. time is pretty much up to the driver, but a 2.1 60' is good on street tires.. doesn't get much better than that.. a 2.0 is possible but it's pretty damn rare. When I'm racing on the track, I don't go past 60% throttle to maintain traction.. 2nd is foot down from there and I hit 13.2@110 last year with similar mods as you but at 2500' elevation. I've tried a little more throttle in first and it just ends up being wheelspin.. a little is ok, but alot is hurting your times.

Speaking of your plugs, what plugs do you have in the car currently? I believe every car is different and reacts differently depending on location, n whatnot as well.. I'm currently running 2 step colder NGK 6510's.. if I ran stock, I'd probably have 15-20 degrees of knock!

i concur..lol...op should be running a 13-13.5 @ 108mph
plus, my best 60ft with regular tires is a 2.06..so now u have seen someone better than a 2.1...hahaha

I ran a 14 flat, and my clutch slipped from first gear and most of second gear. I was running 22 psi of boost.

yeah you are running stock times with a tune car, but with those low traps that explains it, just get the car data logged and try again

wow, im sorry but with all those mods you didnt run past a 14? i had trifecta 25psi and everything else was stock and had shitty non-performance tires and ran a 13.4 @ 110. added 2 mph with zzp intake tube

I trapped 105 another time but I had a worse quarter mile time, and my spark plugs are also the ngk. Coldest and vince said go back too stock from all the detonation close too redline. Like around 5500 6000rpm

your trap is still too low for a tuned car hopefully its due to the detonation, you need to change them asap before causing damage to your motor, denotation is never a good thing

Sounds like a misfire if your feeling it that much, either way stop racing your car until its fixed. You couldnt possibly expect good times and traps with a mechanically fucked car. Some peoples kids

get some mounts to reduce spin. also interested in your clutch. unless vince have the ramp up slow, your clutch is screaming. probably slipping like an old man in the tub. also a catless dp would open it up some more too.

the mods are fine, you don't lose that much power between a spun metal and catless downpipe
these numbers are related to a mechanical issue with the car

I was moreso referring to the people replying to this post with "get mounts, your clutch is probably slipping, i ran this i ran that, your 60 ft is ****" All of those are guesses when the answer is right there in your post. Get it fixed and youll be golden

Im running stock plugs now, ran the for 25k on an ethanol blend and 22 psi. No need for cooler heat range plugs most of the time

Depends on how you told vince to have it activated. Ive never been trifecta tuned so im not quite sure what the standard option is, do you have an rpd? Whats the car doing when it feels like its losing power? CEL flash?
