Anyone have any idea how much a rebuilt LNF motor costs or sells for?
I have one in pieces and I'm trying to decide if it'd be worth my time and money to rebuild it and sell it..

 

Details on pieces lol. Probably not more than 2k depending on what's in it and if it's actually working or worth it for the person. Most people can build their engines for cheaper than what it would cost to have yours shipped to them, checked out and installed.

 

No offense, but unless you're reputable as an engine builder or mechanic I wouldn't want to buy an engine that some guy on a cobalt forum rebuilt himself and never used since it was rebuilt.

 

zzp sells short block you can put together yourself, round about 4-5k if you install yourself
Performance autowerks sell complete long block with zzp gridled block almost new everything 7k w/o shipping, your choise rebuilding my motor well my car i'm over 6k so far. and dont even have my motor yet.

 

^^^^^ that is misinformation...... Idk how many times I need to say that. Performance Autowerks DOES NOT and I repeat DOES NOT use Zzp blocks. Those are zzps blocks nd you purchase them from Zzp. Our 2.1 is our own 2.1

 

An engine isn't that hard to rebuild if you know what you doing. Finding all the specs can be time consuming but not difficult. Also getting things machines properly is something most people would have to outsource.

 

Yeah some good wiseco pistons and a bearing/gasket set goes a long ways for most members goals.

before you get your panties crushed, when Pwerks first posted the long block assembly they had it as a drop down box clearing saying ZZp 2.1L if it has changed since my post then thats them, I posted what I have seen.

 

I can see why he is getting annoyed, he's telling the correct information. I would listen to him considering the fact that he works for Performance Autowerks. This has been talked about before and this is his prolly 10th time saying that it's Pwerks 2.1, not a ZZP 2.1. The only thing that Pwerks offers of ZZP's in the cams with larger fuel lobes, which they then assemble into the motor that you are buying.

Very Nice actually, was just in there a few weeks ago and they just finished one up that they were shipping out to a guy with an HHR

 

I understand that but if I had read those comments and statements I def wouldnt continue to make those allegations. I'm not trying to knock Pwerks for their ability to produce & market their own line of ecotec parts, I was just tryin to inform a fellow member of another way to go about his build besides ZZP ( just to give options). I went back on the site after reading his statement and looked which is why i said corrected myself. No offense intended.

im NOT getting my panties in a bunch by all means. so dont even try to go there. there was never a drop down with a zzp 2.1block. the drop down is for zzp cams and it always has been. i saw it the second it went up on the net. im just clarifying things here.

i didnt think you were trying to make offensive comments either. i get the question on a daily basis and i actually get guys trying to tell me that our own products are zzp products even when it ell them otherwise....... if we use a zzp product(like the optional cams) its labeled as a zzp product not a werks product. anything labeled as werks is werks.

I will def pass the words on. I also see on the Pwerks site that you offer a turbo kit, But theres no option to buy the exhaust mani or downpipe without getting the whole kit. Thats all i need really dont want to really kicc out $1,500 for 2 pieces is there a way Pwerks can list those separate? I have a PTE5857 dbb.

 

You'd need a turbine housing too because their manifold is vband, not a T3 flange. Not worth it IMO.

 

we can sell them seperate. we have done it before and have the jigs for it. our downpipe is v band and the manifold is v band.... we could probablly do a t3 flange on there if needed.

however not sure if your interested BUT we have a partially made turbo kit ready to go almost. we need to put a waste gate flange on the manifold(again the manifold is v band) and make a downpipe for it. theres no turbo sitting around so technically we can sell just the mani and downpipe and dump tube or whatever you need. pm me if your interested.

 

Dude, since you are talking about turbo kits I wanted to ask you, can I swap my turbo with a 5857pte or a 5858pte without having to change the manifold, DP or anything else? Because once I build the motor I want to go higher

 

^^ you should contact PTE about the upgrade, When i spoke to them about upgrading my 5857 they want $575 to upgrade it to the 5862 which is generally my same turbo with upgrade compressor wheel pretty much, see what options they have avail for your 5557 could save you a penny then buying another turbo.

The question isn't the manifold. The questions if it fits back there. The kit was designed around the 5557 and 5857. It should fit. Would like to do the build for you if possible then we can make sure it fits I don't see why it wouldnt

 

I was just looking at your website, because I was thinking the same when I read on another thread about your engine with the 2.4 option. I always considered ZZP because there was no one else, so I wanted to see yours. But damn, I'll need some time to save up for the ZZP engine, but for yours I don't think I'll ever be able to afford it, I compared the 2 blocks with the 2.1 setup and your block costs $ 2k more than theirs. That engine is too expensive for me, considering that I also want to buy the tranny, and that's another 1500 $. The difference between the 2 blocks I can use it to buy the tranny with the 4.45 ratio and still have money left. I don't want to express myself about your block until I found out more, otherwise it happens like when people were saying that your turbo kit was too expensive than zzp's without knowing that it was a little better (in fact I bought yours), so I wanted to ask, what is the difference between your block and theirs?
