Thumbs down reduced engine power

i have the codes
p0087 fuel rail pressure to low
p0089 fuel pressure regulator performance

08 ss turbo

car has 57000 miles i think its the high pressure fuel pump within 8 miles of driving homei started hearing a little rattle. i got home n had someone rev it up while i poked around with a stethascope n it seems to be the high pressure pump. the usual ticking is extremely loud. are these symptoms synonymous with needing to replace the pump?
thx to anyone that helps i gotta new job n gotta have my car for it

First check the wiring I reference in this thread

https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/gene...-p0089-320825/

If that's no the issue then your high pressure pump is likely shot.

Oh man.. It seems everyone encounters this problem... Same codes that I had last month. I first replaced the HPFP then it worked fine for about two weeks then the same stuff happened again.. So I then changed the pump in the tank and the car runs great now!! Been almost a good month. I totally just jinxed it though now

looks like the plunger is stuck closed so the rattling must of been the roller goin back n forth n luckily nothings damaged the yellow wire rubbing the metal cover like was rubbed thrugh the wire insulation slightly. is their a chance i blew a fuse cuz of it? lol i checked the fuel pmp fuse under thehood n it has continuity jw if theirs one inside the car

If you found a wire rubbed through then I would say thats a pretty obvious issue.

I doubt you blew a fuse.
