Does this happen while you're accelerating in vacuum only or in boost as well?

It happens in vacuum and low boost, does your R sound like that?

No

I get some amplified noises due to the SRI but no metal on metal. No doubt, the R is much louder than the stock turbo but I'm not sure what you're hearing.

I listened again with headphones and cannot say? What is Matt saying?

To me it sounds like metal to metal contact and you can hear it. It will stop once I let off that's why I say the first 10 secs or maybe 9 you can hear it then after that you might hear it again once

Well I haven't done much to the car in a long time I kinda gave up on the turbo. So my plans have change a bit so my plans are to go with a 7163 next. I really like the R it's a great turbo but I guess something went wrong and it's not going to work with me now.

Plus why have a F40 swap cobalt with the R

My plans are to complete the f40 swap (already bought everything)
7163
Ported head
Stg 1 cams (maybe Stg 2)
And let's see what else catches my eyes while I'm at it lol

That may be but it helps with the whole "I'll be satisfied with my power after this next upgrade" syndrome

So I will be getting my f40 in the next couple of days, the zzp kit will take a bit longer since they are building the custom axles

So are you sticking with the dual mass flywheel and clutch with the f40 kit or are you gonna go with the race clutch setup?
