Spark Plugs
so today i ordered 1 x NGK Iridium Colder Spark Plugs 08-10 Cobalt SS Turbo suppose to be 1 step colder plugs for us turbo guys who are running add ons or a tune with higher boost so the website says this is a good buy..
what do you think good buy or bullshit? |
bump
3787"S run well, the 6509's are Iridium IX 1 step colder also (premium plug) but need to be gapped down to .032 carefully out of the box.
I have them in my car. Runs alot smoother across the RPM band.
how did you gap them? website says not to use a gapper but take a pair of needle nose and pull it open and i guess use the gapper to test it to see where it is but says should be gaped to 30-32
how do i judge where is a good gap and what to do? |
Use the little hook on the gauging tool to adjust the outer electrode only. THe fine wire inner electrode & tip are brittle and crack easily.
1 range colder 3787's come gapped to .032 out of the box and run well. 5476 are the stock heat range. |
just ordered...NGK (3787) ILTR6A-8G Laser Iridium Spark Plug, Pack of 1
Where can I get the pre-gapped Iridium's, I've been looking for awhile
I'd rather not try and gap them myself cause if I broke them I'd be pissed  So pre-gapped ftw |
Believe it or not, Amazon has the 3787's.
I'm not a huge fan of amazon
I know I know anywhere else? I dont mind paying a little extra |
got mine off amazon

^ Cool thanks
You will like the ! step cooler plugs, but why not go 2 steps cooler if your running 20Psi or more of boost?
I ran 6510's (2 ranges colder) for 10k miles with no issues or fouling but you have to gap them down from .044 to .032 out of the box. More than NGK recommends.
hmm i already order the first ones then per suggestion i ordered these 3787s im not gonna keep ordering plugs and be stuck with them all over my garage
You'll like the 3787's they are cold enough. I only tried 2 ranges colder to kill some knock retard but it didn't help.
i went with the stock oem plugs next time i will try the 3787's

it's not hard gapping spark plugs guys.
If you can't gap spark plugs, you shouldn't be putting them in your car. Even if they come pre-gapped - I still check them, regardless. |
