Stage 1 + K & N Typhoon Air Intake

Hello:

I just received the GM Stage 1 kit for my 2009 Cobalt SS sedan. I am thinking of pairing with the K&N Typhoon Air intake system. This raises a number of questions some of you here may be able to help me with...

First, is the air intake compatible with the Stage 1 and/or advisable?

Also, I've heard that with respect to any modifications you put on the stock vehicle yourself, that the ECU "learns down" to keep the car at its original horsepower/etc.. However, I've also heard that the stage 1 kit turns this feature off, so that you can do such mods. Otherwise, is it all window dressing?

Is there some other air intake that others find better than the typhoon?

Thank you for any help you can offer.

Nathan

Wow no one answered.

The K&N will work with GM stage 1 as long as you adjust the filter at the proper angle.

As for learn down, it's basically gone with GMS1.

Get to it and enjoy.

It is my understanding that GMS1 completely disables the learn down feature. I am running both items you listed and I am very content. My ZZP Catted Downpipe is in the mail tho.

i have a K&N SRI with catless DP. no check engine lights. the K&N does skew fuel trims but not as bad as other intakes..from what ive read

From GM Tunersource interview with Bill Duncan:

Q. Is GM making the stage 2 for the LNF or not.Very happy with stage 1 .What can be expected from a stage 1 LNF with full bolt ons .Is there a limit set on the stage 1 tune?*

A. The stage 1 tune is only limited by the turbo overspeed safeties that are built into the tune.*We have not tested for a max limit. I was hoping the GMTunerSource.com readers would continue to show me how much power and torque they can achieve by posting their
results.
