Stock wheel care in winter

As most of us did, we kept our stock wheels for winter ...

But I'm getting a rusty grain on them that seems hard to take off... how do you guys take care of your wheels in winter? What product do you use .. I'm guessing the normal stuff doesn't work enough..

I use Meguires wheel cleaner at my local DIY carwash and powerwash them clean. Then I get home and clean them by hand using the same cleaner, just in the spots that the powerwasher missed.I then use a Meguires Final Inspection to finish them.Quick detailer also works, and every 3 weeks in the winter I take each wheel off and clean the backs completly, and inside the wheelwells.

A good wheel cleaner for painted wheels, a bottle brush for the inside rim, a paint prush for the lugs and a sponge. 5-10 mins per wheel. I wax the backsides when I rotate them but they still corrode some from the roadsalt here.

My advice is to wax your wheels. Then the dirt, and brake dust wipes off easily.

As far as cleaning very dirty FACTORY(cleared) wheels, pick up some wheel acid it works grea! and doesn't hurt the wheel. Thats what I use on my 17s

In the spring when I put on my 18, I wax the wheels inside and out and wash them every couple weeks. Towards the fall the wax isn't as effective

chemical guys citrus gel with a a rag for the outsides and spokes, a skinnier brush for around the brembos because i can get my hands between and behind the spokes. every time i rotate them wax them good and i use a silicone free tire shine on the whole wheel and wipe off all extra residue(between rotations.

Wheel cleaner and a long handled bottle brush. About $2 at wal-mart. Use a towel on a paint stir stick to dry inside the wheel if your hands are too big.
