Ticking Noise

Does the new turbo motor make a metal ticking sound when you left the hood and listen to the car idling. I know from my brothers sky red line the motor clicks on and off like a switch or something i did hear that which i know is normal. But when the car idle i though the motor was kind of noisy making like metel to metel valve chatter the salesmen said that was normal for this engine.

Sounded like upper valve noise kind of noisy for a new car . But the car was very smooth and quiet when i was driving and fast.

the sound you hear is the direct injection.

Yes, the injectors are loud as ****. Sound insulation and other noise is the reason you can't hear it while driving normally.

the clock tick was fine i know of this sound from my brothers red line. i thought i heard like valve chatter noise coming from the top end under the covers. so let me see if i understand are you saying the di makes the chatter noise so the motor makes like two different noises.

But only under certain circumstances. Its not 2000psi at idle. You should be hearing two distinct sounds - one more of a chatter - this is the injectors cycling, and the other about every second going tick, tick, tick - this is the high pressure cam-driven fuel pump bypassing. That sound should go away when you rev the engine.
