tpms sensor

last night 2 out of 4 tpms sensors apparently took a crap...i know the tires arent flat (obviously) but just wanting to make sure that its fine to ignore em for a lil and what would cause em to fail? im assuming the roads bc the roads where i live are horrible and im gonna guess pot holes and bumps and all can cause this problem?

It was made mandatory not for safety reasons but for fuel mileage. Properly inflated tires get better mpg contributing to less emissions.
But yes they are stupid. It just shows how lazy people have become. When was the last time you saw someone check their oil at a fill up? Why bother when you have light...

It always pops on and off. This is what cheap parts on a car do, they don't work right. Just ignore it, but make sure you know there is air in the tire lol.

I guess this is one area I've been lucky in. No issues in 3.5 years.

We have them because people are too stupid to notice or check therefore the govt requires them.

If people weren't too stupid to check their tires the govt wouldnt have to get involved.

OP youll be fine to ignore the light as long as you can stand to see it, lol. I ran my aura wheels for a year wo sensors in them at all. As far as the cause of the failure, well yes it could be due to the roads around your area. A hard enough shock can damage them, but also the internal battery inside the sensor can die, causing the failure as well. Hope this helps out. FYI i work at a Chevy dealer, and incase you didnt know almost any aftermarket auto parts store has the sensors cheaper, as well as most tire stores(ie tire barn, discount tire). Hope this helps ya out

I agree it's stupid.

What's worse, is that our system is freaking annoying...

My brother's '09 SRT4 has a little light (not even half the size as ours) that goes on;
no blinking, no turning it off to have it start flashing again... ugg.

I had read that Vince was looking into turning off the warnings associated with the TPMS, but I never heard if this was completed/offered...

I believe the batteries in the TPMS sensors are supposed to last 6-8 years. Corrosion is a common failure. A lot I've seen then get over tightened causing excess pressure between the wheel and sensor causing the plastic body of the sensor to crack. TBH failure to road impact is extremely unlikely but not impossible.
I forgot to state the obvious also. Improper installation is a huge killer to these too. If you pop the bead if the tire incorrectly or don't use enough lube ; hell even during removal if you pry in the wrong spot.

The government doesn't have to get involved, because they are supposed to be there to govern, not be your parents. But that's another topic.

Yeah but we live in a country where you can knowingly do something stupid, get hurt, sue, and win.

In a perfect world you get punished for stupidity not rewarded.

Mine throw an error every other month. They fix themselves after a couple of hours. Not really sure what causes it, though.
