We do it EVERY FUCKING DAY. Cat warm up for a few minutes whether you intend to actually drive it or to let it idle it's GOING to happen. It's unavoidable (unless you tune it out). How does it fucking matter if it's done for this purpose? IT DOESN'T.

Koz is right! Simply driving in the winter and using winter blended gas reduces fuel economy. I don't let the car sit idle for TOO much longer in the winter before driving as I do in the summer. Just about the same. I commute 35+ miles to work so a majority of my gas use IS spent driving. I get 3mpg less in the winter. It has little to do with idling and "dumping fuel". It dumps fuel in the summer as well when you first start it. So I agree Koz.

Also to note since you're all so wise. It's to heat the CAT CONVERTER which only takes a few minutes. It's not dumping fuel the entire time until it reaches 190*+. So yes, just a few minutes, LIKE ALWAYS. Have you noticed that your exhaust note gets significantly quieter after ~2 mintues EVEN THOUGH the engine is not even close to being at operating temp? That's your clue. It's not dumping fuel in there like a bukake any more. This happens EVERY time you start the car cold. It's not new, it's not different if you drive away or let it sit.

I'VE ACTUALLY DONE THIS is what I think you dumbshits are missing. I started the car and let it idle for quite a long while on THREE occasions and the needle NEVER MOVED. When I filled up and watched my gallons vs. what the trip meter said as I always do it wasn't changed. I've done this on other cars as well. So now tell me it's burning all this crazy fucking amount of gas. IT'S NOT for any significant amount of time and nothing that doesn't happen on each cold startup anyway.... GET THE FUCK OVER IT.
