turbo stopped spinning

I hope i'm posting in the right section.

I have a 08 Cobalt SS. Stock other than a K&N Typhoon intake. I took off from a red light the other day, maybe 3/4 throttle, and all of a sudden it felt like I hit a wall. I let off the gas immediately and resume driving and notice I have no boost. My boost gauge would only rise to 0 psi. Car ran normally as long as i drove like a grandpa. No lights or codes. So i figured boost leak or turbo. Well i put the car on a lift and check all the piping out. Everything looks good. No noticeable damage as far as i can tell. I remove the intake and look into the turbo with a mirror and flashlight. It doesn't look bad so I check for shaft play. When I do I notice the shaft wont spin or move at all. its just stuck. Anyone ever have this happen before? Any idea what caused this to happen? Guess i better start looking for a turbo :(

your bearing is most likely seized up. definitely need a new turbo. make sure you look at lines and all that to make sure its getting oil before you put a new one in, or you will have the same issue. most likely just died of old age and abuse.

Might need to check the MAF

How is the oil level and quality? Sounds like the turbo may have been starved of lubrication.

Many vehicles also incorporate a mesh filter in the turbocharger oil feed; check the block side, banjo bolt, and line. If you can't see clearly through any of the passages, I would recommend replacing the component.

about half the cars we have come in have clogged oil drain lines.

Seriously? That's a pretty big line.
