Went to the track today, 1st try on trifecta 22 psi :)
Hi guys,
today i went to the local dragstrip to meet a friend that had an update on his Cobalt SS TC, trifecta 24 psi with an injen intake, he had a MAF problem and got it replaced last week, he wanted to test it on the track , and the car still had problem, seem to be the intake.
He had boost, but the car dont perform well, best he did was 13.950 @ 103 mph
he did 13.5 @ 107 last year on trifecta 20 psi with stock intake.
So he asked me to test mine just in case its not the track.... i accepted, he paid my entry.
All i have is the trifecta 22 psi selectable tune.
on the first run it was vs a 135i tuned(he also said exhaust, but it doesnt sound like it had one...)
No surprise i lost! lol he did 13.018 111.81mph i did 13.740 109.95 wich i was happy!
first time i tried it with the tune....
it was the first run though and i was a bit rusted lol
2nd run was vs my friend's 24 psi injen intake SS TC
he did 13.950 103mph i did 13.349 110.98mph
His car really had something, intake ? tune for intake?(logs seemed ok from Vince.. from what i know)
on my last run it was versus an MS3 with intake and raised boost (i think he said 16 or 18 cant remember...)
he did 13.646 106mph i did 13.319 111.28 mph
I was really happy!!
And then i stopped, didnt wanted to baet on the car, i had no prep done on it , still 32 psi in tires etc... And my friend tried a last run and he got into limp mode i think, or something broke, he lost boost and had no power, but no CEL..... any opinions?
Well that was a good day for me!
Heres the timeslip vs the MS3:
I will post the vid soon, i got other cars on video to compare... track is not the best, a lot had traction problem including me lol with wheel hop ....grr
Since the tune im really liking the car

Very nice! Grats on your new PR! I'll get there soon enough. I was always o envious of people that seem to have it down to an art. I would practice every week.. just have to drive 2+ hrs to a strip. lol.. will get there. Best wishes and hope you dont break anything ever. May God bless you.

Thx!
Yes i just have the tune, i wanted to keep it as stock as possible if i had to go to the dealer... just couldnt resist to get a tune lol
Track is 204feet elevation above sea level from what i found about that.
I was running stock tires with 32 psi pressure, i was really not there to race, but after the 1st and 2nd run, i was curious if i could replicate the 110mph+ trap.
Stock i did 14.024 @ 103mph , i trapped 104 stock a couple times.
Im not a pro for the take off, i would also need to practice, but i dont want to beat the car just for that, i already feel bad after each runs hehe.... lol
But its fun to know it can go that fast, a lot of people were impressed, the guy in the MS3 was wondering what was going on lol

Great runs especially for being rusty, Hey I hate to say this but tell you're friend to go back to stock air box with k&n I had to do the same thing last year my car did the same thing on two different kinds of tunes. I gained back .5 secs on quarter mile after ditching injen intake. Now I am still running stock air box k&n filter and zzp mod now as well. Here is my theory on the injen intake it raises the boost gauge psi calculated boost not what is going in the engine they are two different things by the way. Causes an over-boost condition my car did the same thing and it will happen every second time the car is run in the 1/4 mile takes two times to set CEL off. Those that say the injen is ok haven't been in full boost yet for a full 3 secs I bet either and it does not tune out either. Ask you're friend if when it does it is just after 1/8 mile speed in the 80's-90 and starts puking it's guts because the throttle shuts half way down is why. Perhaps Terminator or other can pitch in here the injen has a flaw that causes a loss in hp and torque also, These are just my opinions and yes it sucks losing the money for the injen intake but I would not sell it to my worse enemy if they begged me to buy it.

Im really leaning towards the Firestone Wide Ovals in 235/40/18. Random google searches turn up multiple corvette and what not forums with good reviews. Id love to get some Nitto 555's but I can probly get the Wide Ovals for around $100/ea(gotta call my guy).

Thx a lot for the comments!
Im sure with practice i could have done better, may be lowering the tires pressure too, i was afraid to make the clutch slip, i kind of drop it at 2000rpm and start from there lol
So the Nitto didnt helped BYT ?
i have a set of winter wheels, and thought about getting my friends with me to buy a set of Nitto drag radial for when we go at the track.

dont see why that car woulndt do high 12s on street tires. best on gms1 is a 13.2 and best mph is a 107 for me 2.0s-2.1 on all seasons short time. keep on plugging at it
