What comes with the GM power upgrade kit. (Stage one)
What parts do i get with the stage one upgrade? What makes it work, is it all computer? Is it easy to install yourself? GM wants to charge me 225 to install..
Im assuming your talking about the upgrade for the turbo car since your posting in the LNF section, so it contains two(2) 3 bar tmap sensors and the connectors. As far as install some have done it w sucsess. but you still have to take it to the dealer to have the new tune programmed into it.

Only mod I'd recommend with gms1 is a cat less dp, supposedly almost anything else skews the stock computer and almost gives no hp increase at all, or even less hp. Besides the cel from being catless it makes your car run better, better mileage and clearly gives your car more hp.
get the kit from Crate engine depot;
get the kit with the lug&play pigtails;
do the install yourself;
drive the car to the dealer without getting into boost;
only have to pay for the reflash.
The lower MAP sensor needs a small ridge filed/cut off - and is a MAJOR PITA to get in place...
I found that the upper MAP sensor needed the hole enlarged as it didn't line up with my boss on the intake... rat tail file, and a power drill later it bolted up properly.
Most of the problems are related to the lower MAP sensor/wiring;
either the connection is crap becasue of how short the wires are, and how confined the area is to work in ~ or the MAP isn't installed 100% properly, and it leaks.
The stage Kit comes with:
I bought my kit last year, and even got a cool T-shirt from CED... I liked it enough, that I bought two more

The stage Kit comes with:
- 2 x replacement MAP sensors

- 2 x replacement (oversized) MAP sensor O-rings
- 1 x 'GM Performance Parts' decal
- 1 x 'Premium Fuel Required' decal
- 1 x Emisions compliance Stage kit 'certification' decal
- 2 x replacement MAP sensor plugs (or if you choose them from CED; plug&play pigtails)
- 1 x (set of) instruction sheets - on which is a code specific to your kit that he GM tech needs to get your tune

Good luck!
Even tho you hear people saying oh I am tuned on the stockers and running 30 lbs that doesn't mean its safe or is correctly seeing boost. It's only going to be able to read what baro and its 2.5 can handle. So if he installed the 3. Bars it'll correctly read up to 28-30 depending on baro pressure.
the one im gonna go to is the one on wadehampton "Bradshaw". i'll prolly get it done in another month or 2. give me enough time ta save up a lil more money and get a dyno done before so i can see wut the real diff is
Let us know how they do, I'm probably gonna be getting the kit at the beginning of next year. Good luck!
Were to install
i got mine done at classic chevrolet in grapevine tx back in 2010 $620.00 total installed at their service garage.took 2 hrs while i waited .then i installed an injen cai and charge pipe with a zzp hi-flow cat then i got trifecta tuned for $300.00 with 24 to 25 boost switched on using the cruise control button .needless to say i keep it on at all time and my mpg have increased with each addition.trifecta tune was very easy and took 30 min tops.
