What mods do you have?

I'll be taking delivery on my 2009 SS/TC coupe in late September/early October and was wondering what mods you guys have been doing? I'll probably be ordering the synapse 3"dp by the end of the month of September to get the better price, and probably some sportline springs. Are any of the intakes out yet worth it? Oh, and also as soon as there is 1000 miles on the car I'll be getting a tune (paging area47) just so I can have a good feel for the car first before I go changing things up. Also, that way I'll be able to feel the difference.

I think the biggest bang for the buck mod people are finding is a good tune, many are gaining 50+ hp & tq at the wheels with just tuning alone on these LNF motors.

That's what I planned on. Was going to just do it all at once. Put the downpipe on, install the intake, and probably have the springs on before then lol. Those will probably be on at 500 miles.

Oh, and this is for 2008 and 2009 SS/TC's, they're the same so I figured I wouldn't have to mention it.

Can you put a blow off valve on the cobalt? Will it be good for it. I had a turbo charged jetta and was told blow off valves were bad for it and to keep the diverter valve on. Where can you get a blow off valve for a 08 tc ss if it is good. AGGIE2292@yahoo.com

Diverter vales and blow off valves are essentially the same thing. They serve the same purpose. I havn't read anything on the setup for the tc nor have I had the chance to look under my hood (car is only 4 days old), but I don't imagine it needing an upgrade. The only reason you would want/need to upgrade this part is if the OEM piece starts leaking at any point. I've read a couple threads where they have tuned and run around 24psi without the valve leaking. The turbo seems to run out of breath (flowing capacity) at that point.

Many turbo cars come with poorly made valves (i.e. 95-99 talon TSI/eclipse GS-T, GSX). People put on aftermarket ones because the stockers tend to leak if you raise boost even just a little. Like my 95 talon tsi has a plastic one that leaks at like 12psi!! Even the stock EVO VIII ones leak at like 18psi. So I don't see the need for an upgrade unless you really just want the loud pssshhhh sound.

The Cobalt SS/TC uses a recirculating bypass valve. It's not an atmospheric bypass valve (a.k.a BOV) like on most turbo vehicles. Actually the KD04 twin scroll supercharger in the LNF is actually made by Borg-Warner. They make the turbochargers for Audi/VW. The LNF's turbocharger is sorta a hybrid between a KO3 & KO4 turbo that's used on like the VW GTI's, Audi A3's, and I believe I read the impeller is the same that's on the Audi RS6. Anyways if you look and see what the Audi/VW guys do most of them with their stock turbos, just get deriveter valves, or if you get a CAI you will hear the turbo much better. But getting an aftermarket BOV that isn't set up for this can hurt the turbo and loose boost.

I know the turbo on the Boxer engine uses a similar set-up for their turbos and they have half atmospheric valves that are safe to use. But I wouldn't touch the turbo yet. Unless you just upgrade to a bigger one.

Yeah as for mods not too much out yet...

Synapse turbo 3" down-pipe
Hahn 3" cat-back
HP Tuners
Hahn PPC tuner

Soon some CAI's will be out by like Hahn and turbo tech racing for the SS/TC.

As the months go by I'm sure more parts will be coming out.

Hey everyone... Just bought a new 08 SS and was curious if there are any HP tuners out for this. I can't find one and looked on superchips and other name brand web sites. Also, are there anyother mods you would say to definatly put on a new car?

****, I forgot I made this thread lol.

MapOfTaziFoSho - damn ricers, get that crap outta here lol

M-dub - I have a feeling he will still be the fastest. He may pull trickery since he's tuning it LOL. I already ordered some eibach sportlines, the turbotech racing rear sway bar (for auto x and road course), and the synapse turbo 3" downpipe. As soon as there is a intake that is proven to give gains instead of just making a noise, I'll get one. Also, I like Hahn's exhaust but I think I'll wait to see what everyone else comes out with. Hoping to see some good numbers with the downpipe and tune =D

Can anyone give me the results from the HP Tuner in the Cobalt SS/TC? I was looking to purchase one of these but i would like to know what I can expect in return... Also are there any other parts required/recommended for these HP Tuners?
