***** how much pressure does turbo cold side build

I have a question, im setting up my boost controller to set psi, how much pressure is run through the housing of the turbo before it goes into the intercooler?

That is where i have my pressure line that goes to the boost controller, i want to simulate boost with my air compressor so i may accurately set my manual boost controller approximately.

Any insight????

Thanks

Pressure is whatever you set it to, what is your actual goal here?

The MBC restricts flow to your wastegate, holding it closed longer, resulting in more boost.

Is it bleed type or ball and seat like a Hallman? Most Hallman style ones are 1 psi per turn, you can usually find an approximation for whatever controller you're using.

Why are you using an MBC on an LNF? Boost is fully controllable via the tune, and the car will try to fight the MBC.

Um.....whatever psi ur turbo is making is what ur gonna see all the way to the intake manifold. May drop a psi or so

Thank you for the reply i have my srt4 neon with mbc ewg and tryna set boost to 25 psi. And its stock turbo fully built and full e85.

How much psi builds up pressure from housing cold side

There's no way to say what pressure is in the housing. It's whatever your boost pressure is. With no boost controller it will be whatever your wastegate spring is, 8psi or so. With a controller to slow the WG opening down, it will go up until the wastegate opens back up. You can't really "preset" it, just start with it open, do a pull, turn it a turn or two until you see a result.

With a manual boost controller this^^^^^ would probably be the best way. Start low and work up to your desired load once you have an idea of the increments of each rotation. Do you not have a boost guage or something? Is that why you want to use an air compressor?

yes no boost gauge i do bt its the stock boost gauge the srt4s bring that only view 20 psi , need the AEM boost gauge to check it soon though,, thanks for the info

It will be fairly linear until you are well over the wastegate pressure, so if it's 12psi on the gate and 1 turn gets you 1 psi, so 8 turns to 20psi, it will be another 4 turns to 24psi or so. Once you're over double WG pressure the ratio can change so be careful. My tercel is on an 8psi spring, it's almost 1-1 until 16psi. After that, another two turns got me almost 25psi. So a quarter turn equals about one pound on my particular setup after a certain point. But all those things change with turbo size, MBC type/brand/size, WG size, etc.
